Taylor Swift Shut Out Of Oscar Race

Published: Tuesday 17th Dec 2019 by Sam

Taylor Swift may be riding quite the wave of late with her ‘Lover’ album campaign and more, but the praise isn’t ubiquitous.

Because, despite her ‘CATS’ cut ‘Beautiful Ghosts’ nabbing a nomination for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes, it has been notably left off the shortlist for the upcoming Oscars.

Full story below…

As reported, the likes of Beyonce (with ‘Spirit’) and Cynthia Erivo (‘Stand Up’) made the cut of songs in contention for nomination at the 92nd Academy Awards.

And while many thought Swift may have been a strong contender for the competition, it’s now apparent she won’t feature at all.

The song is boring.. even the other songs when you forward through them have some climatic vocal change or the bridge stands out. This song is simple and two light hearted for the Oscars.

Taylor is NOT that goto chick for memorable anything.. There are approximately ZERO surprises here. As you were. ??

Beyonce should have been shut out also

Spirit is one of the worst songs of 2019
Beyonce struggled to sing in falsetto on this sing. So embarrassing and forgettable

I have to agree. I think the writing is terrible, the song is terrible and so is the production. “Spirit” flopped across the board, despite being in the #1 movie in the world. She will probably finally get her Oscar nomination. I just can’t see this unmemorable song winning.

Beyoncé and “struggle” don’t even belong in the same sentence. Add your name instead.

I haven’t heard the other short listed songs but “Spirit” is Beyonce’s most AA award worthy song to date IMO. I think it’s beautifully written and powerfully delivered and the message is so profound. Hope she wins.
