Final Numbers Are In: Teyana Taylor’s ‘The Album’ Opens To Her Best First Week Sales Ever

Published: Monday 29th Jun 2020 by Rashad

In the two years that separated fans of Teyana Taylor from her sophomore set and its 2020 follow-up, the 29-year-old saw her social profile continue to rise on the back of a successful VH1 reality show, multiple endorsement deals, directing fellow artists’ music videos (under the name “Spike T”), touring, and more.

Those ingredients made the perfect environment for baking and unveiling her third studio effort, ‘The Album,’ which was kicked off by six critically acclaimed singles:  “How You Want It?”, “Morning”, “We Got Love”, “Made It”, “Bare with Me,” and “Wake Up Love.”  To sweeten the pot, it was lined with 23 tracks and included a “who’s who” of features including Erykah Badu, Kehlani, Lauryn Hill, Future, Rick Ross, Quavo, and Missy Elliott.

Leading Taylor to what industry analysts predicted would be the best first week sales of her career (as we reported here), look inside to see just how right they were.

Teyana Taylor’s ‘The Album’

First Week Sales (SPS):  32,000

First Week Sales (Pure):  4,000

First Week Billboard 200 Chart Placement:  #8

Industry analysts projected ‘The Album’ would shift 27,000-32,000 units first week.  Meeting the prediction’s upper limit, the project’s win not only comes as the highest first week sales for Taylor but also her highest Billboard 200 placement to date as it’s the first time one of her efforts reached the top 10.

Not bad! I’m not a fan of her but for R&B and not being a big name these numbers are really good. CONGRATULATIONS BEAUTIFUL

Yes! Congratulations Teyana! A TOP 10! She did that! The whole album is a bop! My favorite joints on “The Album” are:

    Come Back To Me
    Wake Up Love
    Lowkey
    Ever Ever

But I can listen to it NO SKIPS. IDK if I would say it’s her BEST yet. Only because her first album is AMAZING as well and showcased her originality and HER as an artist in my opinion! Although her current album l has a somewhat nostalgic sound, in comparison to her first album, you can definitely hear the growth of her unique style and sound. Her whole first album is my TOP favorite of hers. But I will say “The Album” is R&B at its BEST today. One of the BEST R&B albums OUT to date!

Happy for her but I only like 3 song
To many songs but not great at all

Congrats Teyana. Also, cardis ”invasion of privacy” is still charting on the billboard 200 TWO years after its release. It is currently #92 on the billboard 200. Where is “Queen”?! Where is “trollz” in it’s second week? Yeah. That’s why nicki fans are mad. Big mad

    • King+of+Kingz June 30, 2020

Sweetie the fact that Nicki is ALWAYS on your brain is crazy, she’s clearly an obsession. Let’s see where all these new female rappers careers are in a decade Cuz i guarantees they won’t have the longevity.

Not something that’s in rotation for me, but congrats to Teyana for the benchmark!!
