As has been predicted all week long, Taylor Swift‘s latest re-recorded album – ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)‘ – not only entered the Billboard 200 at #1 but was accompanied by some record-breaking figures.

With a whopping 1.65 million total sales attached to its inaugural sales week, ‘1989 (TV)’ catapulted to the top of the Billboard 200 with her biggest first-week sales yet and the biggest total of any artist this year.
The previous titleholder was Swift herself when her ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ dropped jaws with the 716,000 units it sold during its opening week.
In fact, the ‘1989 (TV)’ sum was so large it marks the highest first-week sales any effort has boasted since Adele‘s ‘25‘ opened to 3.38 million in November 2015.
According to Billboard, sales of Swift’s latest were “enhanced by its availability in 15 collectible physical formats: five color vinyl variants, eight CD editions and two cassette editions” – this is separate from its multiple digital and deluxe versions.
The effort’s gargantuan opening marks the sixth time Taylor has sold over 1 million copies of an album in one week following ‘Midnights,’ ‘reputation,’ the original ‘1989,’ ‘Red,’and ‘Speak Now,’ making her the only act in music history with six different projects to sell 1 million copies each in one week.
With the inclusion of ‘1989 (TV),’ the Pop diva extends her record for most #1 hits on the Billboard 200 (among women). The only acts to have amassed as many or more chart-toppers than her are The Beatles (19), Jay-Z (14), and Drake (13).

I don’t understand why everyone keeps comparing artists with each other and look down on them. Every artists are great in their own way, and different ppl have different taste of music. About Taylor and Beyonce, I love them both but Taytay will forever be the best artist for me. She is a brilliant songwriter. She couldn’t sing well in the past (like before 2015), but her vocal now has improved a lot and she can belt, reach high notes and can sing at really low notes too. Overall, I just want ppl stop hating artists and learn to respect each other.
