In April, Hip-Hop fans were stunned when Coi Leray took aim at Latto (born Alyssa Stephens) for lyrics found in the latter’s song ‘Put It On Da Floor’ that were perceived as subliminal disses.
And though she later walked back the initial clap back by suggesting she may have “overreacted,” Coi made it clear she didn’t appreciate being mentioned in any seemingly derogatory fashion – a stance she reiterated recently when she took to ‘The Angie Martinez Show.’
“Nobody should be mentioning my body,” she told Martinez. “As Black women in the industry, the only way that the world is gonna go round the way we want it to is if we come together,” she relayed before suggesting Latto’s statement could have negatively influenced young girls’ perception of acceptable body image.
Stephens may have cleared up the confusion at the time by telling Leray she “loved her body,” but during a recent session with our friends at ‘XXL’ she went on to express how some issues (like Rap beefs) just get blown out of proportion because of overzealous fans.

From Nicki Minaj to Leray and others, Latto is no stranger to feuds with fellow female rappers. Acting as the most recent cover girl to ‘XXL’ mag, the GRAMMY nominee addressed her diva duels over the years.
“I think it really don’t be a problem until we let fans, Stans, whatever you want to call them, like the outsiders once they get in the mix,” she said. “I think that’s what stirs the pot. Because it’s like, we will all be fans of each other and commenting and following each other, whatever, but then once they get to comparing, they will turn us against each other, which is very weak-minded of us as female rappers.”
And while she didn’t call Coi by name, the inference was certainly there.
“I will take that accountability. I don’t think truly, at heart, it’s us,” she continued. “Once people are infiltrating your mind and got you thinking this, and now you feel this type of way without even addressing the person, now you addressing fans. I think we be falling for these traps that they put on female rappers.”

Exactly. She was throwing subs and Nicki ignored her and simply made a point about her track having the same producer and similar pop sound. Latto was feeling her self and over played her hand by dissing her “idol” thinking it was gonna give her clout.
