While it was wholly expected that Taylor Swift would dominate the 2024 GRAMMYs with nominations for work found aboard her 2022 blockbuster project, ‘Midnights,’ few knew just how historic the mentions would be.
Details inside.
Already enjoying headline domination thanks to the gargantuan sales attached to her current #1 album, ‘1989 (TV),’ Swift is set to finish the week strong with news she may be on her way to dominate the 2024 GRAMMYs as well.
Per the official nomination announcements Friday (November 10), Taylor – a 12-time GRAMMY winner – is listed in 6 categories including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.
For Song of the Year, Swift is now the first songwriter in history to boast having earned seven career nominations in the category (breaking a tie previously held with Paul McCartney and Lionel Richie).
When it comes to Record of the year, Taylor is now the first artist whose first five nominations were for solo recordings (and not as part of a duo or group).
And while she’s listed in GRAMMY history books for most Album of the Year wins, her 2024 nods tie her with Barbra Streisand for most career nominations in the category (six apiece).
The 2024 GRAMMYs air February 4 on CBS.
