Country Radio Station Denies Discrimination Amid Backlash for Refusing to Play Beyonce’s New Music: “We Love Her Here”

Published: Tuesday 13th Feb 2024 by Rashad

Beyonce may be line dancing her way to the top of streaming and digital sales charts with her new Country singles ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ and ’16 Carriages,’ but – despite the critical acclaim being driven the way of the tunes – she can’t exactly boast the best reception among some of the genre’s diehard enthusiasts.

An Oklahoma radio station, for example, went viral on Monday (February 12) after a listener took to the Web to reveal DJs refused to play Bey’s latest – a move that felt reminiscent of the discrimination she received for performing at the 2016 CMAs alongside the Dixie Chicks.

Inciting the global #Beyhive to spring into action, the negative press prompted officials at the station to issue a statement on the matter.

“We are a small market station. We’re not in a position to break an artist or help it that much, so it has to chart a little bit higher for us to add it,” said Roger Harris, the general manager of Southern Central Oklahoma Radio Enterprises (S.C.O.R.E.). “But we love Beyoncé here. We play her on our [other top 40 and adult hits stations] but we’re not playing her on our country station yet because it just came out.”

Harris wanted to make clear the objection against Bey was not prejudicial.

“If somebody calls and requests the Rolling Stones on that station, we’re going to say the same thing,” he said before later relaying, “We don’t play her, but we will [with] this one, if it’s a country song, we will certainly play it,” Harris said. “It just has to chart higher.”

She’s about to go the Lil Nas X route and play the racism card to secure a #1 when the truth is the song sucks and not catchy like Old Town Road. The BeyHǏV does the most

According to HDD, Texas Hold Em is being added to Top 40 and Rhythm so maybe the label has not yet or will not send it to country radio. On the other hand, I’ve read some country stations have just added it. We’ll see. I think it can do well on both country and pop.

Shut up. How would any radio station know this genre hopping clown has now landed on country? It’s not racism or discrimination, they just didn’t know she has a country song now. Most people don’t.

So just because it has a lil flavour of country, she thinks it’s fair to take the spots of real country artists? If you are going country make it more authentic. Azealia Banks was right about this.

It has to chart higher ? What kind of BS is that ? If she has a country song out and you play that on your station, then why wait ? Aren’t radios supposed to “premiere” new songs as well ? That’s a boring a.f. station. To the left.

Beyonce represents greed to the fullest. She is inauthentic as outdoors. This is an attempt to force herself into a space just to do it, make money, and hopefully get more awards. After this album she will be on to some other genre. She is not country. Does Reba McEntire need to rock braids, and do an R&B album for us to see how absurd this is?

200% agree with you there. I can’t imagine Reba McEntire doing a rap/Hip hop album either lol. It’s all about money and not being passionate to her music. Wait, she might doing K-pop one day….

This is what I been talking about for years! Beyoncé is extremely overrated artist. Everything she has done is recycled efforts from those who came before her. Beyoncé has become a cult and she doesn’t even deserve half the Grammys she won! It’s amazing how simply because it’s beyoncé she’s expected to have play on every station. Country music is a sacred genre in the USA, yes it was started by black people but country music is carried a certain way and they don’t want her nonsense being played on their radios. It has nothing to do about her race as there have been many black artists in the country world as of late. She is not authentically a country artist she simply genre hopping and she needs to go somewhere and sit down! What she can do is go help her struggling former bandmates and make another destiny’s child album.

B, stay in yo lane! Country is not for Black people. Stop stealing from White artists.

    • YAHSHUA is coming February 14, 2024

But blacks started the genre. Technically whites stole it from blacks just like bluegrass #LearnSomething

GOOD. Humble that b*tch. Those country music fans have sense. Azaelia was 100% correct, country radio is not gonna fall for her bullsh*t just because of that blond wig and a cowboy hat. She’s about to get humbled and I am here for it.

    • UHoesFunny February 14, 2024

Gurl shut the hell up. Y’all be saying this since B’Day and she’s STILL not humbled lol

Once again, Beyoncé getting her way. We love to see it. MUAH 💋 TEXAS HOLE ‘EM
