‘The Lion King’ – across its many iterations – has a rich history of music, including classics helmed by the likes of Elton John, Tina Turner, and Beyonce -who released a companion project christened ‘The Gift’ in support of the 2019 revival.
Speaking at D23 where the trailer was unveiled, Jenkins offered the following about what the masses can look forward to from ‘Mufasa’:
“Audiences can expect so many things in this film: An epic story, comedy with plenty of familiar faces, some absolutely hilarious and some with extreme gravitas, new songs — all new songs — they’re handcuffing me I can’t tell you who made those songs, but I promise you, the songs are absolutely amazing.”
His words have many in Beyonce’s BeyHive buzzing about her potential musical contribution to the film.
Thus far, it’s been confirmed that Lin-Manuel Miranda and Mark Mancina are spearheading the soundtrack.
‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ premieres December 20.
We’re buzzed. Are you?
Blue Ivy should’ve joined Sister act 3 with whoopi coz they are like mother and daughter
of course. Beyonce will make her daughter a star. Her music or acting career will even worse than solange or Paris hilton. lol
The disrespect the film makers and Disney as a whole have this project not including Sir Elton John and Tim Rice to create the next chapters music is Criminal!
You can’t tell a new chapter of the Lion King without Sir Elton and Sir Tim!
I understand they have enlisted Lin-Manuel Miranda who’s the current flavour at Disney to pen the new songs but they should have had him working with Sir Elton and Sir Tim.
Not sure if anyone else agrees! But as a Lion King fan the music these men originally wrote is what made the story as beloved as it has been for over 30 years!
