The latest victory comes courtesy of a prestigious crowning in her native South Africa.
The South African iteration of famed men’s magazine ‘GQ’ toasted the year’s “leading innovators, influencers, and boundary-pushers” via its 7th annual Men of the Year Awards in Johannesburg on Sunday (December 8)/
Seethal shined as one of the honorees, being crowned Entertainer of the Year.
“With a blend of raw talent, commercial success, and a rapidly expanding international fanbase, Tyla’s future is nothing short of dazzling,” they wrote about the award-winning songstress. “Throughout 2024, she continued to redefine what it means to be a global icon, effortlessly blending genres and cultures while staying true to her roots. The news hit the Web just a day before the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) revealed her breakout international hit ‘Water‘ had sailed to 3x Platinum status – a measure that denotes sales of 3 million in the United States.
At writing, the Sammy Soso-produced cut stands as Tyla’s highest-certified hit yet.
‘Truth or Dare,’ her only other song to be certified in the country, was announced as Gold for sales of 500,000 on December 9.
