Katy Perry Bares All In ‘American Vogue’ As ‘Teenage Dream’ Eyes Triple Platinum

Published: Friday 21st Jun 2013 by David

Peep this footage of ‘Not Like The Movies’ sensation Katy Perry, gearing up for her shoot in the July issue of Vogue magazine!

Now three years removed from the release of ‘Teenage Dream‘, the performer bares all on the insecurities she battles as an entertainer on an aesthetic tip, and the process behind turning her into the star the world fell head over heels in love with back in 2008.

Honesty after the jump….

As it stands, ‘Dream’ now enjoys US sales of 2,717,870 after moving 2,060 copies in the last week. This, placing it even closer to the 3 million unit milestone before the release of her fourth studio outing in the coming year!

      • TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 21, 2013

B**** please! Katy Perry´s whole catalogue has not even sold 10 million worldwide. And by teh way, isn´t her next album her third? These TGJ guys are always wrong, or maybe I am since this chick is so forgettable.

B**** bye, I Am was was released 2 years before Teenage Dream. Lets talk about how TD sold more in 2011 worldwide than 4closure did despite being a year after its release. Sit the f*** down.

  2. Original Katy Kat June 21, 2013

Slay katy as only U know how !!!!

  3. JARED (WHITE DUDE) June 21, 2013

    So…

It still hasn’t surpassed “Triple Platinum” status even though it’s been selling for “99c” on Amazon for almost a year and “$1.99” on I-Tunes for half a year – 8#1 singles later?

    Pathetic.

    Next.

    • Bey Fan June 21, 2013

      lmao

    • steph June 21, 2013

WAIT, this s***** album produced 8 number 1 hits? Isn’t that a record of some sort?

    • LTM June 21, 2013

Um the 99 cent deal was only for a couple days, as was the iTunes deal. And where are you getting 8 #1s?? Update your facts and try again.

  4. Lemme P*** in Your B**** June 21, 2013

Teenage Dream was a good Pop albums. Talk all you want about her she sure knows how to make a good catchy pop record, don’t act like your cookie was turning out to California Girls.

  5. TaylorSwift1Stan June 21, 2013

LMAO while Red has 3,7million copies sold in the states. This b**** will always be a flop!!! She will never be legendary 🙁 The Female MJ? Joke!!!

    • KATY KAT June 21, 2013

STFU UGLY W****! WHOREYLOR S*** IS TRASH, THAT LOCAL H** CAN’T SELL S*** OUTSIDE OF AMERICA. SHE HAS SOLD LIKE 25 M ALBUMS AND 22 ARE FROM THE USA? LOLOLOLOLOLOL WTF? THAT STICK IS GARBAGE AND SHE WILL NEVER BE FAMOUS INTERNATIONALLY.

    • LTM June 21, 2013

Worldwide, where it really matters, Katy out performs her.

    • TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 21, 2013

To be honest both are the same type of joke. Neither of them can perform or sing properly and both make pop music for kids and slow teens, and both claim they songwrite (I suppose they do). If you think about it Katy Perry is the most similar singer you can find out there. She´s way more like Taylor than like Rihanna for example.

      • FAF June 21, 2013

OMG here y’all go with this worldwide b*******… the us is in the world, dumbasses no one cares about anything outside of the US Taylor is from the US. DEAL.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) June 21, 2013

I hope you find reason in your life. While she at lease be remembered for writing and putting out music, you’ll be blown away by the wind and forgotten….

  6. Meena June 21, 2013

  8. DOSSOME June 21, 2013

I’ve never seen an album produce 6 consecutive number 1 singles but still can’t sell 3 million copies in my entire 25years of existence

    • KATY KAT June 21, 2013

B**** STFU! YOU STAN FOR PRINCE, HALF OF HIS ALBUMS ARE CERTIFIED 2 X TRASH CAN EVEN WHEN ALBUMS USED TO SELL MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN TODAY. LOLOLOL AND THAT UGLY GAY ASS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A LEGEND? MY ASS.

        *Plays Prince’s FixUrLifeUp*

    • LTM June 21, 2013

Its sold 6 million worldwide where it matters

    • TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 21, 2013

Don´t be so cruel hun. She only had 4 or 5 desperate #1 singles with that album I think! 🙂

      • KATY KAT June 21, 2013

SAYS MOORIAH SCAREY STAN. LET ME REMIND YOU OF HER GIMMICKS IN LATE 90S THAT SHE HAD TO DO TO SCORE THOSE #1 SINGLES. ENJOY IS W****.

These days, Mariah has figured out another way to manipulate the charts. Although “We Belong Together” was a legit number one hit, Mariah has bought into the new method of “repressed downloads,” which means holding back the release of a digital single for several weeks, despite the song being available for airplay. When the single is finally released, it sells several more copies than it normally would have during that given week. “Don’t Forget About Us” and “Touch My Body” are two songs that benefited from this.

To be fair to Mariah, she may have been the one that has benefited the most from chart manipulation, but certainly isn’t the only one. Sony records started this in the Summer of 1995 when they released “You Are Not Alone,” by Michael Jackson, for 99 cents. Michael Jackson’s History album was bombing at the time, so Sony desperately needed Michael Jackson to have a “hit.” Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Whitney Houston, and several other acts have also benefited from this type of musical manipulation.

It is also important to note that Mariah has had several legit number one songs: “Vision of Love,” Emotions,” “Fantasy,” and “One Sweet Day,” are all examples. But several insiders point out that because Mariah was “married” with the president of Sony Records at the time, Tommy Mottola, her songs received a lot more marketing than they should have.

These days, Mariah is desperate to score a hit single. Her recent album, E=MC2, sold far less than expected. This is why Mariah Carey just rush recorded her new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, to be released only fourteen months after the failed E=MC2 album. Her singles “Bye Bye,” “I Stay in Love,” and “I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time” have bombed on the music charts. Her new single with The Dream, titled “My Love,” sank faster than the Titanic. There is a lot of desperation going on and this can easily be seen by Mariah’s photoshopped “Obsessed” single cover. Whatever happens, let’s hope Mariah doesn’t make a return trip to the mental ward.

Around the time of Mariah’s Glitter bomb, Roger Friedman – who would later become part of Mariah’s PR team – came out with this article that explained how Mariah scored number one hits in the 1990s: by releasing them for 49 cents while the regular price of a single was $1.99. At some outlets, singles actually sold for $2.99. At this time, Billboard’s charts were heavily measured by sales, which were more important than airplay at the time.

This trend seemed to start with the single “Honey,” released in the Summer of 1997. Even though the song didn’t have high call-out research, it zoomed to number one based on sales. Mariah’s 1997 album, Butterfly, was selling far below the amount expected. It was eventually certified five times platinum based on overshipments: this number is far more than the actual amount the album sold.

Mariah’s chart manipulation continued with the “number one” single, “My All,” released in 1998. Several musical outlets sold the single for 49 cents while the song garnered mediocre call-out research and less than spectacular airplay.

In the Fall of 1999, Mariah released her Rainbow album and “Heartbreaker” single to bad reviews. “Heartbreaker” was stalling in airplay but became a huge example of chart manipulation. The song zoomed to number one as soon as it was discounted to 49 cents and 99 cents at many outlets. The follow-up single, the barely known “Thank God I Found You,” zoomed to number one based on the same manipulation.

        @JOHN

I love your username, you better stan for our queen’s new era…i’m super anxious

      • TheArtOfLettingGo (johnvidal) June 21, 2013

        @dossome
        I´m just excited.
Oh and btw did you see this long ass comments about Mariah Carey´s legendary achievements coming from useless t*** sensations fans? Delusion at its finest.

      • DOSSOME June 21, 2013

It can’t handle those receipts,it just cant lol

  9. LTM June 21, 2013

It’s amazing to me that after 3 years Teenage Dream is still selling. Katy is a long term seller. Its sold 6 million copies worldwide. I can’t with people trying to downplay its success either. We all know #1 singles doesn’t equal sales anymore. How many artist have albums still selling 2k per week 3 years after it’s release, edging towards 3x platinum? As for the magazine, I can’t wait to pick up my copy and add to my collection!

  10. Rosie June 21, 2013

She obviously has on makeup, there’s at least three pictures of her without makeup on the web.
Local (40% of her album sales are from the US and over 55% of of her total sales are from there too), basic (no one cares unless she’s showing off her tits for publicity), and fake (from wannabe s*** during Cali Girls to Nickelodeon childrens birthday party star by the end of the era). And she’s like the last pop star to get a Vogue cover anywhere.

    • Slayty Perry (Killer Queen) June 21, 2013

Are you back to get dragged again? I could just copy and paste what I posted on the Lana article lmao!!!

      • Rosie June 21, 2013

You can’t because I have my receipts that Katy is local. She hasn’t had a worldwide hit since Firework. The only countries where she still sells are the US and other English speaking countries.

      • Slayty Perry (Killer Queen) June 21, 2013

Hunty I always come prepared with receipts.
        2x platinum in France
        2x platinum in Mexico
        platinum in Germany
        platinum in the Philippines
Gold in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Chile, Argentina, and Belgium. What was that about being irrelevant in non-English speaking countries? Oh.
Last Friday Night and ET were top 20 hits in most of the countries they charted in. The local shade is tired sis.

    • KATY KAT June 21, 2013

A LAME DEL DRUNK STAN? GO TELL YOUR FAV TO STOP WITH BOTOX INJECTIONS BECAUSE HER FACE WILL EXPLODE SOON. KATY HAS SOLD MORE ALBUMS IN AUSTRALIA, CANADA, THE UK, THE USA THAN YOUR FAV WHO HAS YET TO HAPPEN IN AMERICA. 6 MILLION >>> LAME’S ALBUM SALES OF PARADISE/BORN TO FLOP

      • Rosie June 21, 2013

Lol. Born to Die is about to outsell TD internationally. TD has only sold 3 million outside of the US, and Video Games was bigger than every Katy single since 2010 worldwide. Your fave is local. Admit it.

      • KATY KAT June 21, 2013

INTERNATIONALLY? YOU MEAN IN 3 EUROPEAN COUNTRIES LIKE GREAT BRITAIN, GERMANY AND FRANCE BECAUSE THAT H** IS IRRELEVANT EVERYWHERE ELSE? KATY DID GREAT THERE, 3XPLATINUM IN THE UK, 2XPLATINUM IN FRANCE AND 3XGOLD ALBUM IN GERMANY. WHEN WILL LANA BE POPUAL IN HER OWN COUNTRY? THE B**** DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A PLATINUM SINGLE THERE LOOOOOOOOL WHILE KATY CAN DO IT EASILY. WHAT KATY SELLS WITH 1 SINGLE IN THE USA, LANA CANNOT SELL INTERNATIONALLY. STILL, 6 M IS MORE THAN 3.5. IF KATY IS LOCAL, SO IS LANA.

      • Rosie June 21, 2013

I cannot! Katy isn’t s*** outside of the US, she hasn’t had a hit in Europe/Asia since Firework which was 3 years ago, she hasn’t been relevant outside of the US since 2010, she hasn’t won any major non fan voted awards in any country whatsoever, and like I said Born To Die will outsell Local Dream internationally in weeks, it’s at 3.1 million without the US and is still charting worldwide. Almost half of Local Dream’s sales are from America. Not to mention my “flop” fave is currently #16 on the worldwide iTunes artist rankings, higher then Katy has been since early Firework. And BTD has more certifications than the album Teenage Dream with only one big hit.

      • Slayty Perry (Killer Queen) June 21, 2013

Rosie I can’t with your delusional lies. Teenage Dream has more certifications than Born To Flop. Not only that but BTD has sold 3.5 million worldwide and Teenage Dream has sold 6 million. HOW THE F*** IS BORN TO DIE GOING TO OUTSELL IT IN MONTHS???? I just f****** can’t!!!! Unless Born to Flop sells 3 million by October it ain’t happening smh. Delusion at it’s finest

      • Rosie June 21, 2013

I didn’t SAY it was going to outsell Local Dream’s total, dumbass. I said it wa going to outsell it INTERNATIONALLY. Reading comprehension, sweetie. TD has only sold 5.6 million, the only source saying 6 million is Capitol Records, who also claimed that it sold 11 million just a couple of months ago. Katy is only at 3.1 million WITHOUT America, and so is Lana. Like I said, BTD is at 3.7 million total, 600k only from the US, therefore BTD is at 3.1 million outside of the US. Lana is still selling very well. It should outsell Local Dream’s international total by early July.

      • Slayty Perry (Killer Queen) June 21, 2013

        @Rosie
Good f****** bye. I absolutely can not with you excluding U.S sales because Lana has none inorder to make her look impressive. The desperation is real. The U.S is the biggest music market, I give no f**** about how much she sold worldwide without it. And both mediatraffic and chartnews confirm 6 million c*nt, not just Capital.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) June 21, 2013

But @Rosie Katie is more relevant, rich and more successful than that ET figure in your avi will EVER be, so why not just bow down gracefully?? LOL. You stan for a basic, non existence, irrelevant a*s flop, but you try and drag? Katie’s not my favorite but if my fav was as irrelevant and replaceable as yours, I’d shut my mouth!

  11. Rosie June 21, 2013

Wait at Capitol inflating her sales again.
TD is at 5.6 million worldwide. They said 11 million a couple of months ago, now they went down to 6? I cannot. Pathetic for an album with 6 #1 singles.

    • ENOUGH ONIKA (KMART QUEEN) June 21, 2013

Waiting for Lana to even make relevant sales….

  12. Navy Sailor June 21, 2013

I loved all of Katy’s singles. They were fun, pop singles. Yall act like everything should be super deep with intricate vocals and metaphoric lyrics. I’m interested in hearing the direction shes taking with her new album….

  13. FAF June 21, 2013

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I f****** stan for Katy Kat 😆 these comments got me DYIIINGGGGGGGG ROFL…

  14. Belladonna1363 June 22, 2013

I love pop music & Katy makes some of the best pop music ever. Gaga,Bey,Adele,Rihanna,Katy,Taylor & Nicki makes music fun to listen to in the 2010s so who cares if her music isn’t always deep. I can’t wait until the new album comes out. Can’t wait until the Video Music Awards get here!!!!!!!!
