With the September 10th release of Janelle Monae‘s new album ‘The Electric Lady’ fast approaching, the eclectic songstress is wasting no time serving up the latest single from the set – the Miguel-assisted ‘Primetime’.
Unwrapped moments ago, That Grape Juice has one of the first online listens after the jump…
Stellar. From the to the vocal layering, to the guitar riffs, to the slow-burning production, this is all sorts of a winner! Monae and Miguel compliment each other in the most qualitative of ways.
Sublime.
HOT!

Yess love them both
This is actually good. production is great
omg they sang the f*** out of the song though!!!
It’s a good song. I like it but it doesn’t blow me. Also, it’s gonna age well.
Not as catchy as #Beautiful was for me, but a winner for sure.
Since when has real R&B ever been catchy? Go back over to the white side….
Oooooh girl, Janelle looks SO edgy!!! I see Miguel’s trying to market himself as less effeminate… and its working. LOL
These two together will be FIRE!!
amazing song! this girl can really sing
She looks like a mix of Ashanti and LeToya Luckette. This song sounds LEGENDARY. I hope it soars her up to new heights. This is what her first album lacked. Can’t wait till Electric Lady. I never liked Miguel on featured songs. He does well on his own.
Good LAWD this song is so good. Going to go SO hard on my iphone!!! YESSSSS JANELLE! Thank you for this. And that guitar solo?? YES
They both have weird hair.
dope s***
Love both of them but I have to admit I don´t like the song much.
Miguel is the masculine Janelle Monae and vice versa. The song could have not been anything else than fire. THIS is real music.
this song is dope. i love it!
THIS might just be the song to take Janelle OVER into the mainstream!
This is a cool lounging song. I believe she has way greater hits though…. her team promotes her very safely. I think she has too much talent to be safely promoted… and she is too beautiful as well… Her look actually gives me Lauryn Hill.
