Katy Perry‘s ‘Prism’ power continues to outshine the competition – a feat we expect to be a mainstay this award season.
For, after storming single and album charts alike with tunes like ‘Roar’ and ‘Dark Horse’ (and their parent album), the songstress can now boast leading the 2014 People Choice Award nominees with a whopping 5 nods.
Justin Timberlake, whose 2013 wasn’t too shabby either (see: best selling album of the year, two #1 albums, and blockbuster tour), also notched 5 nods including listing in categories like Favorite Pop Artist and Favorite Song.
But, while top acts like Demi Lovato, Bruno Mars and One Direction follow with four nods a piece, some fans have griped about the absence of color (*cough cough*) in this year’s nominations list. See it in full below:

I did notice that the list does have a lack of people of colour. Ciara or Alicia should win in the R&B artist category but since the public vote Justin or even Rihanna is likely to vote. It’s a popularity vote in a lot of these award shows. They should be more like the grammys were a panel decide the winners IMO.

Smh at the rnb category, as an aspiring rnb artist, it’s Kind of discouraging to see the list. Where is Tamar, where is k michele ( personally I don’t listen to her music but still) seems like alot of black artist have to wait around fit the decking bet awards to get shine. However I’m no buzz kill. Congrats to everyone, I see Ariana taking breakout artist. She had an amazing voice. Hopefully she changes it up a bit and doesn’t become a bore. That voice is golden.
