Mariah Carey may be shunning the promo push for new album ‘Me. I Am…Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse’ following the set’s elusive sales, however the diva has been far from idle.
Today saw a major music entity announce their new deal with the iconic songbird. Which company is it? Find out below…
Songwriting juggernaut SESAC revealed that they have entered into a representation partnership with the 44-year-old star:
“SESAC couldn’t be more excited to sign Mariah Carey to our family of songwriters,” said Trevor Gale, Senior Vice President, SESAC. “Mariah Carey is without question one of the most gifted and influential artists ever and is truly iconic. While simultaneously remaining relevant, she continues dominating the charts in an unprecedented multi-format fashion. Mariah wrote, produced and used her incredible instrument to weave together her new album, which is being greeted with massive critical acclaim worldwide. While the fine details of the deal remain under wraps, we’re almost certain that it’ll see the singer gaining a meatier percentage of her songwriting royalties – fitting for a writer as prolific as she.
There does exist the problem, though, that recent years have seen it become increasingly difficult for ol’Mimi to shift new music. A fact which presents an immediate problem for the lucrativeness of her future offerings. After all, a meatier percentage of nothing still equals…nothing.
Still, in appreciating the legendary status Mariah brings to the table, as well as (of course) her talent, we’re hopeful she continues to make the right power plays to ensure she returns to the top. We envisage more “changes” are nigh. Stay tuned.

The problem she is facing right now is the problem I have always had with her music, its always the same. Back when Mariah first came out I want to say three of her albums were good and eveything she released after sounded exactly the same until the holy grail that is “Emancipation of Mimi”. Being a skillful singer isn’t enough to with stand a career unless you go the adult contemporary route. If she cant change up her “eras” of music then no one wants to be bothered listening to it. Maybe she needs to do more songwriting for other artists. Love her and all since shes been around for a while but I need more than just a great voice.
