Drake‘s surprise album ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late‘ has seen him match a ‘Billboard Hot 100’ record set by the Beatles this month, surpassing efforts made by the likes of Taylor Swift, Jay Z, Beyonce and Rihanna after he placed 14 songs on the chart…at the same time.
Full story below…
Standing as one of his last albums under the Cash Money music group, ‘Late’ hit the charts as a surprise release and opened with 535,000 equivalent album units.
Now, thanks to sales and streams generated by the rapper’s, the rapper now stands tall as the only artist to have matched the Beatles record for having 14 songs on the ‘Hot 100’ simultaneously back in 1964.
He had come close to matching this record back in October 2013 but failed to when he only managed to impact the tally with 12 jams.
However, his chart dream came true with a little help from his ‘Truffle Butter’ collaborator Nicki Minaj thanks to numbers moved by two numbers that he features on.

Drake can now boast of having 85 ‘Hot 100’ entries since his debut, placing him at #5 when the chart’s highest-achieving performers are listed.
Good for him, but the Beatles is more newsworthy as they had 5 sings in the top 10, and that was mostly due to sales and radio, while drakes is mostly just streaming.
Also the Beatles were lead artist and didn’t have any features either, but still a good feat to have so congrats Drake.
Happy for him, eventhough a lot of those songs are features but this is still impressive especially for a hip hop guy.
Good for her. I think she will have a long career.
Can the same be said about Nicki @CT
Drake can MURDERER my v*****.
No one’s coming near that infested swampland.
I haven’t been on TGJ all weekend. I just read the hilarious comments. Who’s this person trolling under my name? 😆 SMH
“I’m from S.A but my grandmother lives in 3 bedroom bungalow in Zimbabwe.” ➡ LMFAO!!!! That’s a good one. 😆
Congratulations Drake. Now all you need is multiple #1 hits on the Hot 100.
Congrats drake the Beatles awesome records so its drake time and age is different so for drake to have pull that off great really ppl hate on him but got to give him props no matter how soft they think he talented
Blah… all these records are so irrelevant. You couldn´t enter the hot 100 with a single which wasn´t released to radio in the 90s for example, so pretty much nobody could have more than 1, 2 or 3 singles on the hot 100 at the same time. And there were way bigger artists back then. All these numerous entries by Drake, Nicki Minaj or Taylor Swift are irrelevant. Being on top and having lasting impact is the real deal.
That said, congrats to Drake for her good album sales. He´s one of the best selling acts in the USA right now.
Who are you to call these records “irrelevant”? like what credentials do you have to try and discredit this great achievement?
Sit your f** ass down and don’t worry about what he is typing b****.
cowriah let John Vidal he is a stan of gaga. So u should have a clue. I’ am way above the others attitude, that all it (john vidal) is.
Not impressed, but whatever. I feel like all the “records” being matched/set by current artists now are due more to technicalities and loopholes. iTunes ans streaming have turned the music business into a joke. Radio and retail was the real deal. Who can’t go to f*****’ YouTube at any time and click on a video? RIAA and Billboard needs to cut out all this enabling b******* that’s allowing today’s pop stars to have all these incredible feats without much effort or lasting impact. Singles are selling 6x platinum and being forgotten the next year, while the album they’re cut from struggle to sell a million copies. This “new system” isn’t working any better than they try to say that the old one doesn’t. If it were up to me, iTunes/YouTube/Spotify/etc. would all be meaningless and account for account nothing. If that’s how people wanna listen to their music, then whatever…but it wouldn’t count towards anything official. What would only matter is if it’s A) Playing on the radio and B) how well it’s selling at the record store (I repeat: RECORD…STORE.) Anything else would be totally inconsequential.
I agree but disagree too. To say iTunes should be meaningless to a song/album success is unfair to the way technology has changed. I do think streams should be in it’s own category, charted and record the weekly impact, but not effect billboard charts. And YouTube has made artist have to make great videos again. Videos aren’t shown in mtv or vh1 much and 0 videos are played on bet at all. So why make a grand video if ppl aren’t going to watch? Now they have to. But views should go under a stream chart, not singles genre/ hot 100 chart.
CONGRATZ DRAKE!!!
(What a great post to wake to lol.)
I’m really happy for him, new album is fire and currently #1 on itunes after 3 weeks! You’re the best.
i don’t care if it’s ft, that’s a great feet. congratz to him.
Majority of Drake’s Hot 100 entries are features but Nicki gets hated
Congrats Drizzy. I love you
For the people up top, it’s a different time. Back then there were only radio and sales, in the 90’s it was the same. We’re in a new age, so streaming counts just as much as radio imo. At least streaming is the people clicking vs labels paying a station to play.
.
There’s only 100 spots on the BB Hot 100, if artist have 14 or even 5 on the same chart, there’s no way most artist can chart. Drake and Nicki and artist like them won’t be around for long. Or at least the quality of their music won’t. No way you can shoot out 100 songs, a 100 good songs.
He does absolutely nothing for me…. And I want to like him, But i dont get his buzz…
