Even with 11 studio albums, dozens of mixtapes, EPs, and more, rapper Gucci Mane‘s Hot 100 history – outside of guest appearances on rap duo Rae Sremmurd‘s #1 hit ‘Black Beatles’ and Selena Gomez’s ‘Fetish’ – has not sung of much top 30 success.
In fact, as of September 2017, Big Guwop had never been able to boast ownership of a top 30 single as a leading artist. However, that all changed thanks to his Migos-assisted single, ‘I Get the Bag,’ which – as of time reported – is on its way to helping him bag his first ever top 10!
Details inside:
Gucci Mane La Flare’s ‘I Get the Bag’ spent much of September and October hovering in the upper 20’s -a career high for him at that time. But, much like fellow Urban superstars Keyshia Cole and Monica before him, a hit BET reality show is proving itself just what the chart doctors ordered. As shown here in our weekly Hot 100 chart check, the week after his highly publicized ‘Mane Event’ wedding special (a ratings winner for the network) ‘Bag’ blasted to #11 on the Hot 100. To date, the tune not only lays claim to his highest chart placement as a leading act, but also seems poised to crack the top 10 next week.
As if that’s not enough, his latest album – ‘Mr. Davis’ – debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 this week to the tune of 70,000 SPS. The numbers grant the rapper a repeat of his highest charting position on the tally (2016’s ‘Everybody Looking’ debuted at #2) and the second highest first week sales of his career behind 2009’s ‘The State Vs. Radric Davis’ which debuted at #10 with 89,000 units shifted its premiere week.
Gucci Mane really is out here living his best life. Congrats, Guwop!
Congratulations on all that is happening!!
