Two weeks ago fans were treated to a serving of ‘Lemon’ – the surprise collaborative effort of rap/production supergroup N.E.R.D. and pop diva Rihanna. Debuting after weeks of speculation, the comeback tune was an immediate hit among critics who not only likened it to some of the group’s better known classics, but also praised Rih for tapping into new corners of her artistry (see: rapped verses).
Shortly after its unveiling, the song shot up streaming and iTunes charts – eventually peaking at #8 on the latter. Now, with a full tracking week of streaming and digital sales behind it, ‘Lemon’ finally makes its debut on the Hot 100.
