The much anticipated lead single from Michael Jackson’s first posthumous LP, ‘Michael’, surfaced today in the form of ‘Hold My Hand’.

“Hold My Hand”, a duet with Akon, is a song they recorded in 2007. A handwritten note from Michael belonging to his Estate indicated his desire that “Hold My Hand” be the first single on his next project. However, in its unfinished state, the song leaked out in 2008. Akon recently completed the new and final production of “Hold My Hand.
Akon comments, “The world was not ready to hear ‘Hold My Hand’ when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it. But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I’m so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols.”

Both lyrically and musically, ‘Hand’ plays to everything Michael stood for in his storied career. While on the production side of the fence, the song has been garnished in way that its able to sit comfortably besides his other inspirational numbers such as ‘Cry’ and ‘Heal The World’. Most potent, though, is that in being true to MJ’s sound, it also fits comfortably into the musical landscape of 2010. Expect this to be huge…and rightfully so.

Say what you want about Akon, but Michael really respected Akon as an artist, producer, and a person. Michael was all about love L.O.V.E. Something that people today know NOTHING about which is evident in some of your comments regarding Akon.

well i’ve had this since it leaked over a year ago….its a beautiful song but i just wish michael had done it with an great female singer.

@Ekua, This is the new and original version. The 2008 version was leaked and unfinished. So this track is complete.
They kinda remastered and polished this song from the version I heard 2 years ago. But it sounds decent. At least on this one I can tell it;s MJ and not no imitate.

This sounds as if it wasnt finished and Sony brought Akon in to fill in what wasnt finished after Michael died. Anyone who paid attention to Michael knew he had an ego and would NEVER have had Akon featured as prominent as he is in this version….Michael is somewhere shaking his fist at Akon.
