Lauren Jauregui has used her platform to spark a fresh conversation on homophobia and intersectionality.
Intersectionality is a concept often used in critical theories to describe the ways in which oppressive institutions (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, classism, etc.) are interconnected and cannot be examined separately from one another.
Her thoughts and feelings below…
This is such a disgusting display of toxic masculinity & a deep ignorance of the expression of human sexuality. It is a spectrum that has no shame. It will be painful but it will lead you to your true family. Anyone who can wish this on something they created is deeply troubled. https://t.co/urD1iosDEU

Do not be terrified. Your truth is not shameful, and anyone who shames you for living your truth only does it because they are ashamed of who they are. https://t.co/jGtmNkIKdR

He doesn’t hate gay people, he hates himself and who he has to pretend to be to be the right kind of “male” https://t.co/mjWQh65YUe

I’m sorry you had to go through that kind of shame and embarrassment, love. You didn’t deserve it. I️ hope you’ve found people who love you for exactly who you are, because you are perfectly you. https://t.co/UUqmvInyIU

Today taught me so much more than I️ can explain but intersectional political activism & art is the future. Prepare and find how you can get involved bc this is the greatest change humankind has ever seen. We’re awake & finding each other. We are the divine feminine incarnate.

I don’t like her music but I like her as a person but I don’t know how we’re going to get people on this movement? This blog has a lead gay writer yet so many people in the comment section is homophobic. Women can be sexist Blacks can be racist & Gays can be homophobic. That’s alot of work to do.
this my thing if a person has the right to like love and whatsoever whoever why can’t someone dislike whatever they dislike? why does there have to be a underlying reason. have you ever thought that a heterosexual CAN’T imagine have s** with the same s**. im a women and the thought of another woman is gross cuz i like men and what they have. there is a difference in hating gays and just having different views. just like yall want ppl to respect your views and differences u have to do the same. respect who has different views. i don’t hate gays i don’t distance myself but if asked i believe that men and women belong together and nothing about that makes me hateful.
“i kill him”
“he is getting r**** by two women and i will pay for it”
which parts of those sentence convey respect? i’ll wait.
Exactly!
I’m not a fan but I purchase good music ?
