Rita Ora has issued an apology for language used in her new single ‘Girls’ following criticism sent her way by her label mate Kehlani.
Rita’s words below…
I am sorry how I expressed myself in my song has hurt anyone. I would never intentionally cause harm to other LGBTQ+ people or anyone.Looking forward, I hope that continuing to express myself through my art will empower my fans to feel as proud of themselves as I’m learning to feel about who I am. I’m ever thankful to my fans for teaching me to love myself no matter what. I have strived to be a contributor to the LGBTQ+ community throughout my entire career and always will be.

Her sincere apology was prompted by Kehlani’s criticism of the jam’s lyrics on social media hours after its unveiling.

People are way too sensitive these days and Kehlani is dead wrong for starting this drama.
Rit a is lame. Whatever happened to freedom of speach? Everything does not have to kiss up to LGBTQ agendas. I doubt the song is anti-LGBTQ so what exactly is the problem?

That was a different time.., it’s tone deaf in 2018 for straight girls to appropriate lipstick lesbianism to sell music. Pop music is about capturing the zeitgeist of the moment, Rita and co. are getting mild flack cos it’s a dated concept.
It’s freedom of speach. Songs like Katy and this one are okay in my book. I like songs that are sexual lyrics provocative and these two are lame compared to what I listen to when I am in a ratchet mood. People are just looking to be offended over nothing these days.

There was no need to issue an apology because the lyrics were not offensive or harmful. Ppl need to pick and choose their battles and stop being so sensitive about every damn thing. Artist can’t even make a song without receiving backlash for innocent I lyrics.
