It looks like fans couldn’t wait to find out the latest happenings of Bordelon family on OWN’s critically acclaimed breakout series, ‘Queen Sugar.’
The Ava Duvernay-directed hit show – led by “Ralph Angel” (Kofi Siriboe), “Charley” (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) and “Nova” (Rutina Wesley) – has been a consistent ratings winner since its 2016 debut. The long-awaited, two-night season 3 premiere (which aired May 29 and May 30 respectively) reaffirmed that consistency.
Curious to see just how many people tuned into OWN Tuesday and Wednesday night? Details inside:
May 29 ratings: 1.48 million
With nearly 1.5 million viewers glued to their screens on May 29, ‘Queen Sugar’ ranked as Tuesday’s #1 show on cable for its hour. It ranked #2 for the night overall (among scripted programming), coming second only to OWN’s flagship franchise, ‘Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots.’
May 30 Ratings: 1.04 million viewers
Despite a dip in ratings for night 2, Wednesday’s ratings still pulled in a commendable 1.04 million viewers. For its hour, the show ranked as the #1 scripted cable program.
Good for them. I like the cast.
