Almost four years after unveiling her sophomore studio album, ‘Thank You,’ fans of Meghan Trainor are thanking the singer-songwriter for finally forging through label drama and setbacks to release her long-awaited tertiary studio effort, ‘Treat Myself.’

Featuring guest appearances from the likes of Nicki Minaj, The Pussycat Dolls, AJ Mitchell, Lennon Stella & Sasha Sloan, and more, the project – released via Epic Records on January 31 – is set to battle the likes of Lil Wayne, Kesha, and more for the Billboard 200’s top spot.

Curious to know if Trainor’s third-go-round has what it takes to keep up with the competition? Listen inside and tell us:

Some of the songs are stuck in her earlier sound and that pisses me off because other songs show growth and are really good. “Babygirl” is really good. “Ashes” sound like an Adele song, which is not bad. “Another Opinion” sounds like a good 90’s pop song but she’s done that song to death already. As a body of work, Megan proved again that he slow songs and a FEW mid tempos are her best work and her uptempos are garbage. The album should’ve been led by songs that showcased growth, vocal strength, lyrical contact yet still radio friendly…not on song that are typical.

It’s a mixed bag ? On the one Hand when your lane is not flavour of the moment (i.e. Urban Pop) and you’re not a rap/trap artist you gotta keep some of the flavour/character that got ppl checkin’ for you to begin with on your album. ‘Nice 2 Meet Ya’, ‘Baby Girl’, ‘Funk’, ‘Genetics’ and ‘Blink’ are all signature Megan BOPS. I never got into Megan for her ballads so ‘Here to stay’, ‘After All’ and ‘Ashes’ are unlikely to make me want to check for her album and I suspect the casual listener will feel the same – but perhaps they will grow on ppl. Production and vocally the album is on point 6.5/10.

I’ve been bumping the album all weekend and I’m here for it!!! I’m unaware of her first album and only listen to the single for her second album, but I’m all the way sold! Meghan has something very special and I love the urban vibe. ? ?
