This mix is certainly not something that the average listener will be able to appreciate. However, it does increase my general curiosity about the standard version of the track as we’ve heard both this dance remix and a piano composition during her tour. Hopefully, GaGa delivers because she can’t afford to drop the ball, especially with Britney Spears currently reclaiming her position as the Pop Princess.

Britney’s album sales have declined because the album sales have declined dramatically in the US in the last few years as well. Though her album sales are not impressive, she still manages to deliver good numbers and she doesn’t promote her albums on TV or radios – the performance on Good Morning America (2008) doesn’t exist compared to the promotion Britney used to do-. This is good news, more if we consider that Katy Perry and Rihanna promote their albums far more than Britney and have to wait many months for their albums to reach the 1 million mark….

The thing is, it’s not that I’m not a fan of any of these artists, it’s just that I’ve never taken the time to listen to their music. I stumbled on Florence + The Machine by pure accident over a year ago, and I already knew Janelle for a few years, even though I lost track of her after the “Many Moons” single and almost forgot about her until I saw the Tightrope video on VH1 Soul. Most of the alternative artists I listen are those I’ve known a long time. This may sound weird, but I’m hoping that it’s a dance song with the craziest dance beat EVER and that her vocals are like stadium loud and the notes are crazy to contrast with the beat. For one, if this were “Born This Way” remixed, I’d be HUGELY disappointed. I’m glad Gaga’s kind of laying low right now. There will be so much of her this year. I’m excited, for some reason, though.
Also, yeah. LOL, I was thinking of it while I was in school today since it was one of those dumb review days. Those days are horrible when you’re acing classes.
A power rock ballad would be great, but her and her team would be looking for a statement vs. a hit if they went that route. What would be cool is if the song started with the chorus (crazy vocals as I described) being like a power rock ballad, and then the dance beat came in. Anyways, we’ll just see on the 13th.
I read this commentary on Gaga’s single on this one site, and they said they think it will be a power ballad that her and her team want to be a statement, and if it flops, they can move on to the electro track. So the album will be a mix of guaranteed hits and more experimental tracks. I actually agree with that approach, being that people expect so much from her from both a quality and commercial standpoint. That’s a pretty hard expectation to fulfill, though. Which is why I wish that she and her producers would keep mum about the album. Don’t create any expectations, just surprise people.
Now that I think about it, I wonder how MJ dealt with the pressure for his next album once “Thriller” became a global phenomenon.

Also, the “Telephone” video was a sequel to the “Paparazzi” video – it’s a story (though I don’t understand it very well…) so the “to be continued” thing probably meant that the 3rd part of that video series has yet to come.
However, since Beyonce was added as a character to her video series in “Telephone”, I wouldn’t be surprised if another Beyonce collaboration was created for a single for its video to be the sequel to the “Telephone” video in that video series. Maybe she’ll just be in the video, though, instead of being featured on the song.

To be honest, if Gaga doesn’t EXCEED expectations, she’ll underwhelm with this album. THAT is the problem with overhyping and overdiscussing with your records, because if you call a record the “album of the decade”, “f****** amazing”, “more than a style, look, or sound”, then you have to exceed the expectations given to people. Even meeting the expectations underwhelms.
Someone heard the lead single back in November and was screaming after they heard it (this from a photo). That would be a good sign…but they were a huge stan.
Also, she didn’t want to do “Dance in the Dark” and they did. “Alejandro” was a good statement piece to show her diversity, and it was extremely catchy, but DITD was WAY better.

I actually like the fact that Bey is taking this long. If this results in a better album, then she can take all her time, just as long as we don’t get a Chinese Democracy. Besides, people always complain that she’s overexposed, now they can’t complain anymore.

Basically Kanye’s been getting a lot of comparisons to Quincy, and an interviewer [i think rolling stone] brought it up to him and he said “Kanye’s just a rapper, i’ve done much more than him” or something along those lines. I thought it mad Quincy sound cocky and somewhat ignorant. Considering he called Kanye “just a rapper” when we all know he produces. [maybe better than raps]

I understand. I love Kanye’s production as well (it is superior to his rapping skills), however not only was Quincy an overall better producer, but he was also an innovator as well. I mean, Kanye seems to be inspired by him, so Quincy shouldn’t be insulted at the comparisons. I’m also objective when it comes to being able to differentiate between my faves and the actual best.
