Big Sean is opening up about the internal struggles that almost led to him taking his own life via suicide.
Full story below…
The rapper, who has been increasingly vocal about the importance of mental health awareness, shared his personal narrative during an appearance on Michael Eric Dyson‘s Facebook Watch show, ‘One Question, One Mike.’
He sold the culture academic:
“Those are the stigmas that have been placed on us growing up. If you a man and you not working hard, it’s like, ‘Ah you getting soft.’ So that was always in the back of my head, so I’m working exhausting myself for years and years and years. I couldn’t get through the day without feeling terrible.
I was sure contemplating suicide a lot of times, you know, having guns in my hands and just really feeling it for real…even planning it out to the point where like, ‘Hey, if I do kill myself at least my family will get this amount of money. Because I just was stressed out and not happy. I realized that I need to stop everything I’m doing and figure this out or I’ma self-destruct.”
As for how he overcame the dark times, Sean Don said:
“I took the time off, canceled everything I was doing, sought therapy, connected with God more, spiritually grounded myself and put myself first as a priority for the first time ever.”
Kudos to Big Sean for being so frank about this important topic. By sharing his story, he’s no doubt helping many with theirs – and possibly saving lives in the process.

Having “everything” doesn’t make one exempt from depression, mental illness or stress. Let’s be very clear.

This is the reason people don’t speak their truth, it is because of fools like this that say man shut up and stop complaining if you were living paycheck to paycheck you would really know what it was like. if he was living that life he wouldn’t be on the gram having to deal with us . When you walk a mile in his shoes you have NO IDEA WHAT IT IS LIKE!!!!!!
B***** you don’t put it out there when your fans follow everything you do. Keep that to yourself and seek help.
