From Satan to Santa, Lil Nas X‘s current era isn’t lacking in cultural and historical references to push his musical agenda.
As fans continue to recuperate from the shock of the sacrilegious imagery that lines his latest music video, ‘Montero (Call Me By My Name),’ the GRAMMY winner has learned his name has been printed a-front yet another shiny plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
This time, it’s for the predecessor of ‘Montero’: 2020’s ‘Holiday.’ Details inside:
Barely two months after learning ‘Holiday,’ the first single from LNX’s yet-released debut studio album ‘Montero,’ had been certified Gold by the RIAA (meaning it’s sold the equivalent of 500,000 copies in the United States), it’s seen its certification status upgraded to Platinum. This means the tune has now sold the equivalent of 1 million copies in the same territory.
The win is of particular note for LNX as it’s his fourth consecutive hit certified as such – meaning every official release of his career to date (barring ‘Call Me By My Name’ just released March 26) has been registered as Platinum in the U.S.
And – if the out-of-the-box success afforded to ‘Name’ is anything to judge by – his winning streak isn’t set to slow any time soon.

I’m tryna figure out how ppl calling him a flop. All his singles went platinum and this song will as well. To expect him to repeat ole town road is unrealistic but he is by no means a flop.

Streaming is doing wonders for these artists. It’s making them seem a lot more successful than they actually are.
Isnt streaming an indicator that people are actually listening o thier music? How are they going to be successful if they dont have fans or casual listeners playing tgeir songs. U guys would say anything, even nonsensical stuff just to discredit these Artistes. Smh

That’s how streaming works.. just because you’re not listening to something doesn’t mean other ppl aren’t at large.. it’s not like before when everything was on the radio & everyone heard it.. millions of ppl personalize their own musical experience now due to streaming
