Billie Eilish is aiming to blaze with her hotly anticipated sophomore album ‘Happier Than Ever.’
Arriving two years after the singer’s mega-selling breakout effort ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?,’ the project has been on the radar of the star’s legions of fans as well as critics eager to see whether she can cement her spot as one of music’s leading entities.
While the five pre-release singles – ‘My Future,’ ‘Therefore I Am,’ ‘Your Power,’ ‘Lost Cause,’ and ‘NDA’– each charted within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, all eyes are on whether the housing album will deliver commercially.
With lofty expectations, the first semblance of the answer has arrived. Because the first-week predictions are in.
Full story below…
According to Hits Daily Double, the LP is on course to premiere at #1 with the following units sold:
200,000-225,000
[Sales Plus Streaming]
********
130,000-140,000
[Pure Sales]
Topline, in today’s climate, the numbers are solid.
However, when examining the sales at a more granular level, several interesting points surface.
Eilish’s 2019 debut opened with 313,000. From that sum, almost a third of the units sold were attributed to the now-disallowed tour ticket bundles.
This go-round, physical sales comprise about 50% of the overall total – with various vinyl configurations contributing to that in earnest.
Given the seismic streams generated by Eilish’s first project and the typical consumption patterns of her younger-skewing core audience, one has to wonder why streaming wasn’t a bigger factor in her sophomore numbers. A possible explanation centers around the lack of smash hit single in the vein of ‘Bad Guy.’
Then there’s the lengthy pre-order frame ‘Happier Than Ever’ benefited from. After all, it has been available to purchase since April.
Still, it’s a strong 2021 opening. Time will tell whether the album will have legs to climb to higher commercial heights.
So much more than Beyonce’s last flop.
The Queen has released a DOZEN Albums since 98 and they ALL FLOPPED. but unlike many Flopping isn’t going to ever stop the Queen from being, well… the QUEEN.
#28 GRAMMYS#
And 20 were paid for. Girl go choke on a steak bone 🍖 and stay off Beyoncé’s d I c k p** 🐖!!
Ok
Are people really comparing this girl to Beyonce?
It’s easy to sell if you’re white in America. It’s not that impressive. US is majority white.
It’s more impressive when minority artists sell that much. Sorry not sorry. These are facts.
Whatever helps you sleep at night…
@Carlitos so true!
@Nicky so true!
Nicky if white people were as racist as blacks they would buy zero music by blacks.
Well said💅🏿 Drag that Nicky son of a c u n t 💩
Dame, she pulled me in with her last album and then pushed me away with this one. It is incredibly boring. Im shocked at how boring it is. Theres maybe 2 songs on the album liked.
It’s the sophomore jinks!
Hunnie, the first album is boring enough…, bad guy is the only bop and that’s it💅🏿
The album cover gives me flop energy
I’m waiting for 80% drop of her sales next week 💅🏿 Those new generation artists dunno know the art of longevity

😂😂
Normani had a cardi feature and she’s falling like that. Lol
She fell 37 spots
Embarrassing.
Normani is also completely out of the global spotify 200 chart.
It just isn’t a great, or even memorable song. Who decided THAT was lead single material? I DREAD to think of what a snooze fest the rest of the album will be if THAT is the standout track.
Poor Camila Thee Llama 🦙
See where racism gets you. A FLOP CAREER
Issa flop sis
Hang it up. Next week will be hilarious
200k+ a flop? 🤣
I’m not a fan of this new album. Her overall sales are impressive, compared to other releases this year. In our current music climate, there are many artist that can’t even pull in 50k much less 100k in pure sales, so this is pretty good. I don’t expect Artist to do well with pure sales considering mostly everyone is streaming and not buying music. Kudos to those who are pushing over 100k upwards 200k in overall sales debut week. This is pretty good in today’s music climate.
