Readers of That Grape Juice know how passionate we are about music – whether that be past or present.
However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.
This week, we want to highlight cuts from Avril Lavigne, Florence + the Machine, Becky Hill, and DNCE.
Join us inside…
Avril Lavigne – Kiss Me Like The World Is Ending
Fresh off the release of her most recent album, ‘Love Sux,’ Avril Lavigne is back with a tour de force of pop-punk tunes that form her best collection of work since 2007’s ‘The Best Damn Thing.’ At the center of the project is the album’s highlight, ‘Kiss Me Like The World Is Ending.’ Heavy guitars, pounding drums, and handclaps guide the way as Lavigne injects the tune with plenty of attitude. Urgent and euphoric, ‘Kiss Me Like The World is Ending’ is Lavigne’s return to her pop-punk throne.

Florence + the Machine – King
Serving as their first taste of new music since their contribution to the ‘Cruella’ movie, Florence + the Machine has released its latest single, ‘King.’ Pure poeticism cascades down the lyrics like a waterfall in the rainforest as lead singer Florence Welch’s haunting vocals croon over the sparse production. With ‘King,’ Florence + the Machine have proved they are truly music royalty.

Becky Hill – Run
Straight from her BRIT Award win for Best Dance Act, British superstar Becky Hill has returned with the lead single fro her sophomore album, a collaboration with EDM group Galantis called ‘Run.’ An atmospheric electronic tune, ‘Run’ sees Hill caught in the confusion of a relationship. As heartbreaking as it is anthemic, ‘Run’ stands is a must-hear tune.

DNCE – Dancing Feet
DNCE has officially made its triumphant return. Helmed by Joe Jonas, their new song ‘Dancing Feet’ features EDM savant Kygo. Containing handclaps, thumping synths, and echoes of piano, the tune is as playful as it is expertly crafted. In short, ‘Dancing Feet’ proves why DNCE is one of the most formidable groups in pop music currently.
