With GRAMMYs, Academy Award nominations, chart-topping albums, and adoration from fans around the globe, Mary J. Blige has checked off an impressive set of achievements over her 51 years.
Because the ‘Love No Limit’ singer has demonstrated there are no limits to what she can accomplish professionally, her personal life has taken a noted backseat.
But, if a recent interview is anything to judge by, Blige is 100% ok with that.
Ahead of sending Janet Jackson‘s fans into a frenzy when she reported she’d be open to sharing a Super Bowl Halftime Show stage with the Pop Queen, the Queen of Hip Hop Soul used the same interview platform to talk about her future – namely as it relates to motherhood.
Taking to E! News’ Daily Pop, Blige was quizzed by resident host Justin Sylvester about her plans to settle down and start a family of her own.
“I have nieces and nephews forever and I’m always watching how people are scrambling for baby sitters. I don’t want to go through that. I like my freedom to go and move and do what I want to do,” she stated. “I don’t want to have to tend to someone all the time.”
And while MJB sounded pretty confident about her stance, she did suggest it could change in the future.
“Right now that’s where I’m at,” she revealed. “But, I don’t think it’s [having kids] gonna happen.”

The revelation arrived shortly before Blige joined Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and 50 Cent for the Super Bowl’s historic, all-Hip Hop halftime show.

That is not true. I do not want kids and am very fertile. Some people just want different things out of life. I’d rather travel than to change diapers, but that’s just me. Others might feel that a kid makes them complete. There is no right or wrong here. It’s a choice.
