Chloe Bailey will have a new reason to sing ‘Lord, have mercy,’ new reports reveal.
The 23-year-old, gearing up for the highly anticipated release of her debut solo album, is turning her attention to church solos as a leading star in the forthcoming comedy, ‘Praise This.’
More below:
A music-competition feature comedy set in the world of youth choirs, ‘Praise’ – written by Tina Gordon and produced by Will Packer – is heading to theaters courtesy of Universal Pictures.
“The film falls under Will Packer Productions’ first-look deal with Universal, which has produced such hits as Night School, Girls Trip, the Ride Along films and Little. WPP’s founder and CEO Will Packer (The Photograph, Little) will produce alongside The Story Company’s co-founder and CEO Tim Story, with WPP EVP Johanna Byer exec producing. Executive Vice President of Production Erik Baiers and Director of Production Development Tony Ducret will oversee the project on behalf of Universal.”
While few details about the movie have been revealed as of its announcement (i.e. release date, full cast, etc.), what has been unveiled are reports that Universal may be eyeing the movie’s potential for franchisement (a la ‘Pitch Perfect’).
Until we get more info about the forthcoming venture, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for Miss Bailey’s next foray into film: Miramax’s supernatural thriller ‘The Georgetown Project’ (starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Simpkins).
Sounds like a cute move for Miss Bailey.
