Jesy Nelson is not only formerly of Little Mix, she’s now formerly of Polydor Records.
Because just 14 months after inking her seismic solo deal, the 31-year-old has parted ways with the Universal Music imprint.

The star scored a UK top 5 with the Nicki Minaj-assisted ‘Boyz’ last Autumn – but the release with drenched in drama centered around accusations of cultural appropriation and a related fall-out with her former bandmates.
Last month, Nelson found herself at the center of headliners after it was reported that her label requested that she returns to the studio after allegedly being unsatisfied with the fruit of her studio sessions. A claim the songbird denied in earnest. She even promised fresh material was set to be unwrapped imminently.
Yet, in a surprising (or perhaps not so surprising move) Nelson and Polydor have announced that they have gone their separate ways.
A spokesperson for the singer, who shockingly left Little Mix in 2020, said:
“Jesy Nelson feels now is the right for her to move in a new direction. As a result, she has decided to part company with Polydor.”
While a rep for Polydor added:
“Polydor have amicably parted ways with Jesy. We have enjoyed working with her and everyone at the label wishes her nothing but the best for the future.”
Fans of Nelson will have noted the frequent chronicling of her studio sessions on social media; with many of said sessions being anchored in Los Angeles. What will become of the music she’s been working on has yet to be confirmed and will ultimately be interesting to see.

It’s giving diplomacy amidst deeper issues. But rather than speculate, we’ll simply wish Jesy the best. Because at this juncture, no tea no shade, it’s clear she’ll need it.

I don’t mind her to take some time to make her debut album, she won’t take 6 years like Normani. The first single was maybe out too soon for an official debut era but I don’t mind, it was a nice occasion to have a teaser of what she can do solo. It takes 2-3 years to make a solid project, I’ll be patient.

People really thought that this girl has what it takes to be a star. I find that really funny. She was always going to be a flop. Also, she was stupid getting Nicki Minaj on her lead single. Nicki does not have the same clout she had in the early 2010s. Putting her on your song in the 2020s does not guarantee you a Billboard hit. In fact, it is more likely that you’ll be a flop. She should have gotten Doja, Megan, or Cardi on the song, and she probably would have had a hit on her hands. But the main problem is that she is just not a good artist.
