Kanye West is only hours removed from the apology he issued to the family of George Floyd and the Black community at large for claiming the unarmed Black man died from drug use rather than the knee of the policeman convicted of killing him.
However, the rapper has sparked fresh controversy by taking aim at Roxie Washington – the mother of Floyd’s daughter.
As reported, Washington filed a $250 Million lawsuit against the MC on behalf of the youngster. The sum is being sought for the harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress it’s claimed West’s words caused.
Taking to Instagram moments ago, the embattled star let loose his feelings on the matter.
West wrote:
“Now for Roxie Washington and Roxie Washington ALONE.
I gave 2 million dollars out of my pocket for the family. To help George’s daughter…Your daughter! …
Many gave words. I ACTED.
Now because of words you want to sue me for 250 million dollars … when I’m going through an Economic lynching. A Digital Lynching. A Social Credit Score bankrupting.”
Later in the now-deleted post, West wrote:
“To the Floyd family: I apologized to you and the Black community for my comments on Drink Champs. Humbly. Now come get Roxie before she mess up all y’all money.”

While West seems confused, a statement from Floyd family attorney Kay Harper Williams earlier this month makes it abundantly clear what the issue is from their perspective:
“Free speech rights do not include harassment, lies, misrepresentation, and the misappropriation of George Floyd’s legacy. Some words have consequences and Mr. West will be made to understand that.”
