How time flies!
Bey’s never topped this album sonically, and After the Storm was really that girl
Dangerously in Love was nice and had some great singles but it def wasnt her bedt album. It was thematically beaten by the likes of Beyonce, Lemonade and Renaissance. In comparison to those cohesive whole bodies of work it comes across as a mishmash of random songs. Nice songs but ones dont contribute to a cohesive theme together. Vocally it was smashed by B Day and 4 and in terms of lyrical and conceptual depth again the likes of Beyonce and Lemonade and to an extent Renaissance are superior. They make DIL sound elementary lyrically. It was nice, it was fun but it was simple. 9/10 for the singles chosen in that era, but a 6.5 for the overall body of work.
I think dil is better in hind sight to me. And the non singles were the better songs. She had a misstep finding her sound solo but looking bk. Dil seems so true to who she was at the time which is y it worked
I agree with Pat.
DIL was a good album that stands apart.
Her later albums were more about the visuals and big budget production. Beyoncé was still likable during her era B-Day era also.
After this…she seem very competitive.
To me, it feels like her most authentic, most solid body of work. Vocally, it’s only bested by 4 and B’Day. As a Destiny’s Child fan FIRST, it was overwhelmingly disappointing when she abandoned her soul/R&B sound after this album which is why I, and many other fans rank it among the best of her albums. I am still waiting for something like a DIL 2 and I’ve been waiting since 2003, I’m sure it will probably never happen but I can dream
Moodring
I’m surprised ppl know Try This! exists, it was P!kms flop era
La Bella mafia the best female rap album of time didn’t get any mention
I still prefer HardCore but yes La Bella Mafia is such a great masterpiece too 👌
i really dig the naked truth and hard core
Hell yeah, The Naked Truth 💖 I still listen to “Durty” and love it as f
Tanya Stephens was not happy with Kim over the use of her lyrics in Durty
And I never understood why because this album is so great, one of my favorite from her. I wish “Save Me From Myself” was a single.
Catch Me While I’m Sleeping 🔥

2003 was a good year for music.
The Beginning of the CRUNK era. The East/West Coast was on the map. Good R&B music was on the radio.
Just an all around balance unlike nowadays.
