Viola Davis has pledged allegiance to the cause that has seen Hollywood grind to a halt.
And the EGOT winner has done so in a major way.
Full story below…
Davis was set to star in and produce ‘G20.’
Unlike most projects that have been affected by the SAG-AFTRA strikes, the film was granted a waiver permitting production to press on.
The reason? It is being helmed by the non-AMPTP-affiliated MRC.
The fact the flick will only be distributed by Amazon was also factored into the decision.
Nonetheless, Davis has made clear that she won’t be taking up the offer to continue.
Issuing a statement on her decision to step back in the here and now, Davis said:
“I love this movie, but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike. I appreciate that the producers on the project agree with this decision. JuVee Productions and I stand in solidarity with actors, SAG/AFTRA and the WGA.”
The star’s actions come as a growing list of her peers – including Brad Pitt – do the same.
