The cast of the Michael Jackson biopic continues to grow with notable names.

For, Larenz Tate and Kat Graham have boarded Lionsgate‘s hotly anticipated big screen adaptation of the King of Pop’s

Moments ago, it was announced that Tate will portray Motown mogul Berry Gordy (who signed the Jackson 5), while Graham will star as Diana Ross.

The news comes after it was confirmed that Colman Domingo and Nia Long will play MJ’s parents, Joseph Jackson and Katherine Jackson.

Set for release on April 18, 2025, ‘Michael’ is being directed by Antoine Fuqua and will see the legend’s nephew Jaafar Jackson take on the titular role.

Lionsgate and the Michael Jackson Estate are powering the project, which promises to deliver a raw and unvarnished look at the layered life of the biggest star in music history.

The latest synopsis reads:

“‘Michael’ will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became known worldwide as the King of Pop. This epic, cinematic film will examine Jackson’s triumphs and tragedies — from his human side, to his public and private struggles, to the accusations and the 24/7 media microscope Jackson lived under, even at his artistic apex. The all-star filmmaking team will also capture Michael’s undeniable creative genius, recreating his most memorable, iconic performances. As never before, audiences will experience an inside look at one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known.”

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ producer Graham King has been tapped to produce, while Oscar nominee John Logan helms the script.
