Snoop Dogg Weighs-In on Kendrick Lamar-Lil Wayne Super Bowl Drama: Don’t “Hate on the Next Man”

Published: Sunday 8th Dec 2024 by Sam

Snoop Dogg is widely considered one of the founding fathers of modern Hip-Hop.

Understandably, then, the legend was quizzed on one of the dramas dominating discourse within the genre: Kendrick Lamar‘s slot as headliner at the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2025 in New Orleans.

Many rejoiced when the ‘squabble up’ hitmaker nabbed the coveted spot. However, a small sect of others bemoaned hometown hero Lil Wayne being passed over – including Wayne himself.

During an appearance on the latest episode of Drink Champs with Dr. Dre, Snoop spoke up and out.

Find out what he had to say below…

Speaking candidly to hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN during the episode (which was taped at ComplexCon 2024), Snoop said:

“Before Jay-Z got control of the Super Bowl, there were no n*ggas performing. He’s creating a wave of artists to be able to have the opportunity to perform. If you’re a good artist or great aritst, your time will come.”

Continuing, Snoop added:

“You should just be honored that Hip-Hop is being able to be seen on that platform for all of us and not hate on the next man, but be happy.”

Agree 100% with Snoop Dog. When the time is right , if your talent is warranted, you’ll get the opportunity to perform , not because you’re from that city. Jay z is not the only one to decide who is to perform. Give credit to where it due Jay Z has been a great influence on who’s to perform and has not gotten it wrong yet. Props to Snoop for speaking the truth

1st all those taking to Twitter and acting truly ignorant would not and did not do so when a white person was selecting SB candidates. Black people STOP disrespecting other Black people With Jay in the ranks some of you ridiculed yourselves and the entire black community by openly showing disrespect to Jay. Act the same way you would have when a white person made the decisions. In other words do what you want done to you and respect other black people.,.. Next Snoop was right. Wayne could have been happy to see another one of us in the community to be picked. Everyone wants that stage but only 1 can have it. So it wasn’t Wayne’s turn, he should have been gracious and given a bow to Kendrick. The other ragetty actors who showed their behinds need a much worse tongue lashing and should have shut up….. Next just because the SB was in his hometown is not why they should pick him or a NO person. The best act who’s relevant should be picked. …Next didn’t I hear Wayne’s performances were not up to par? He’s been quick to leave the stage and stop performances also? His recent history seems really bad. Even if he has many hits no one is selecting a bad performer for that expensive of a show. No one. All of this was unnecessary for someone who’s not on their game in the first place.
