Jeannie Mai is speaking candidly about the emotional toll of her divorce from Jeezy, and she did not hold back.

During a recent appearance on iHeartRadio’s Question Everything podcast, Mai didn’t mince words when discussing her divorce from Jeezy.

“It felt like experiencing death alive.”

Continuing, she billed the process itself as “the worst.”

The former couple married in 2021 and welcomed daughter Monaco Mai the following year.

By 2023, however, the relationship had soured, with their divorce finalized in June 2024.

Mai explained that divorce forces a kind of survival mode.

“It’s a process that forces you to then protect yourself to get what you need.”

Despite the pain, motherhood remained her north star. She expressed relief that Monaco was still very young during the split. She added:

“She’s not gonna remember what that turmoil is like. My job is to define peace for her.”

Still, she made it clear she doesn’t regret the relationship, saying she’s grateful to have experienced love in different forms. She also didn’t rule out marriage again someday, admitting she deeply values what love has brought into her life.
