Justin Timberlake Sues to Stop Release of His 2024 DWI Arrest Video: “Irreparable Invasion of Privacy”

Can’t Stop the Feeling‘ hitmaker Justin Timberlake is looking to put a stop to the release of the police body camera footage of his 2024 arrest and has tapped the courts to assist.

Nearly two years after his shock detainment for driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons area of Long Island, New York, the GRAMMY-winning actor-singer – who pleaded guilty to the crime in September 2024 – has filed a petition with the Suffolk County Supreme Court to block the public from viewing the video of his arrest.

“Public dissemination of this footage would cause severe and irreparable harm to [Timberlake’s] personal and professional reputation, subject [Timberlake] to public ridicule and harassment, and serve no legitimate public interest,” the petition filed Monday (March 2) read.

After multiple news organizations made requests for the bodycam video of Timberlake’s arrest, the former NSYNC frontman’s legal team sprang into action – arguing the clip contains private details that are not relevant to “any law enforcement action of public concern.”

Among said details are allegedly “intimate, highly personal, and sensitive details concerning [Timberlake] and his family, and includes information of medical, familial, otherwise confidential nature that is not necessary to inform the public about governmental operations or the performance of official duties.”

Under normal circumstances, the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) would allow the visual to be circulated to the public, however, Suffolk County acting Supreme Court Justice Joseph Farneti is holding off on ruling so all parties can negotiate.

As of time of this report Timberlake has not issued a public statement on the matter.
