The exchange happened Sunday (August 2) during her set at The Jazz Cafe Festival in Burgess Park, South London.
Performing ‘Whipped Cream,’ the 35-year-old paused to explain the financial reality waiting for her at the end of a run she and her band had poured everything into.
She fessed:
“It’s so tough to know you give so much to this s**t, and to go on such an amazing tour. And, like, for every single one of us, to be killing it every single night, and to know at the end of that s**t, the bill that I have, that I’m sitting with, is just astronomical and really depressing.”
She also acknowledged that the wave of emotion caught her off guard in real time:
“I didn’t know it was going to come out during ‘Whipped Cream,’ but like, that song always makes me cry.”
