As previously reported, GRAMMY-winning singer Lizzo recently scored a major legal victory after a federal judge dismissed a harassment and discrimination lawsuit brought her by former tour wardrobe assistant.
Now, the ‘About Damn Time’ singer is making time to speak out on the sensitive matter.
Asha Daniels filed the lawsuit in 2023, alleging she experienced sexual harassment as well as racial, gender, and disability discrimination while working on the European leg of Lizzo’s ‘Special Tour.’
Judge Fernando Aenlle-Rocha ruled Tuesday (September 1) that Daniels failed to establish that Lizzo’s touring company violated the law.
The Pop diva herself was previously dismissed from the case in 2024 and the latest ruling now brings the entire lawsuit to an end. The judge also acknowledged that some alleged workplace incidents were “inappropriate and unprofessional,” but determined they did not amount to a legally hostile environment.
Lizzo’s attorney called the decision a “total victory,” while Daniels’ lawyer, Ron Zambrano, said he remains “disappointed” and is considering his client’s next steps.
“We are disappointed by the Court’s ruling. While we respect the Court and the judicial process, we believe the decision improperly weighed evidence that should have been evaluated by a jury. In our view, the ruling appears to minimize evidence of a sexually charged work environment by assessing incidents too narrowly (i.e., pictures of penises and sexually charged comments by managers), rather than considering their cumulative impact,” said Zambrano. “We disagree that an employee twisting her ankle and limping while trying to work does not meet the legal standard of a disability under the ADA. These are important issues because these claims often depend on how a jury evaluates the full workplace environment, the surrounding context, and disputed facts. We respectfully disagree with the Court’s approach and are considering appropriate next steps.”
Meanwhile, a separate lawsuit against Lizzo from three former dancers remains pending.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Liz broke her silence on the legal issue.
“Today I am relieved to announce that I have won the case against me and my company Big Grrrl Touring. All the ridiculous claims by a wardrobe assistant who worked on tour for less than 3 weeks (including a claim they broke an acrylic nail) have been dismissed,” she captioned over a video for her 11.2 million followers on the platform – branding the lawsuit as “shocking.” “I prayed for the truth to come out, and thanks to my incredible lawyers, the truth has prevailed. The truth matters more to me than anything, and I told y’all I will not settle and will continue to fight until every vicious claim that has been made against me and my businesses.”
