Singles ladies Rihanna and Katy Perry have seen the latter years of their careers skyrocket them atop singles charts while simultaneously, yet ironically, accompany such success with less than stellar album sales. But, with Perry’s ‘Teenage Confection’ rolling onto shelves in less than two weeks (March 26th) and Ri reportedly readying her 7th LP, the BFFs may be adopting the ‘strength in numbers’ adage to change the tide.
For, while Rihanna’s collabo list is quite extensive, Perry may see herself the next added to it. Chatting it up on Access Hollywood today in preliminary promotion for her film ‘Battleship’ (sailing into theaters May 18th), see the model-with-a-mic talk about the movie, rumors on the new album, and a possible forthcoming Katy Perry collab.

rihanna hasnt been in the game for that long, less than 7yrs, but i havent seen much growth from her as a true artist. with her own defined sound that SHE made. yeah she has stuff she does, but that’s what easter dean made or the dream. there is no doubt that she is the it girl now and is unstoppable with her singles n ww album sales, but u would think, after 6 albums in, we could say this is what rihanna made. being, what 23.24, she hasnt made an album that actually said something, besides rated r, but she didnt write on it. she doesnt have to write the full thing, but just let us know who rihanna is with less of the chart toppers n more of the music that is from rihanna, not from some guy hired to make a rihanna song. but she never said she was releasing a new album.
rihanna is a singles artist bc her album sales are slow, n after 6 albums, her sales in america, the biggest music buying market in the world, is just at 7.8 mill in the usa. also, it is a big deal she doesnt have a #1 in the biggest music buying market n her home music place bc it shows that the music buying public will buy 1 song at a time, yet are not confident enough in her music to buy a full album until they hear 4+ songs.
