Chris Brown:”The Industry Can Kiss My Ass”

Published: Saturday 12th Dec 2009 by Sam
chris-brown

Controversial singer Chris Brown took to his Twitter a few hours ago to vent his frustrations at what he believes is the industry attempting to blackball his comeback attempt. Here’s what the 20 year said:

I’m tired of this shit. Major stores are blackballing my cd. Not stockin the shelves and lying to costumers. What the f*ck do i gotta do…

WTF… yeah i said it and I ain’t retracting sh*t. I’m not biting my tongue about shit else… the industry can kiss my ass.

thx again to my real fans. u dont go unnoticed .love yall

WOW! In as much as some will question the point Chris’ outburst (which I’m almost certain is to do with the 100k prediction for his LP’s sales first week), I find it somewhat refreshing to see an artist so impassioned about their work that they have no qualms in airing out the industry politics etc that are threatening its success. Though I’m not exactly sure what it was going to achieve, other than alert the masses as to what is going on behind the scenes, think about how many artists get screwed over by the industry and just sit there and keep quiet until they bonafide flop and their names and statuses are dented.

In any case, keeping the focus solely on the music (which many publications seem to struggle with doing these days – see: ‘Graffiti’ reviews), ‘Graffiti’ is a great body of work, which deserves more success than its being positioned to achieve.

AMEN TRENT..I AM SICK OF TIRED OF THE S*** THEY ARE DOING TO HIM..

    1. PAYING STATIONS TO STOP HIS MUSIC BEING PLAYED ON RADIO
    2. PAYING FOR HIS ALBUM TO GET BAD REVIEWS
    3. BLOCKING HIM FROM THE BET. UNTIL TODAY THEY CANNOT SAY WHY THEY DID NOT LET HIM PERFORM
    4. PULLING HIS GMA PERFORMANCE. TILL TODAY HE HAS NOT EVEN BEEN ABLE TO PROMOTE HIS MUSIC ON TV..
    5. NOT RESTOCKING HIS CD OR LYING TO CUSTOMERS THAT IT HAS BEEN SOLD OUT YET IT HAS NOT..

MANY PEOPLE IN TWITTER HAVE SHOWED LOTS OF PICS WHERE HIS CD HAS BEEN SOLD OUT..EMPTY SHELVES AND THAT THEY CANNOT GET HIS CD..THIS IS SOME B******* COZ CLEARLY THE PUBLIC WANT HIS MUSIC SO WHY DENY HIM..THIS IS ALL DEF JAM AND JAY Z AND WE KNOW IT..PAPA KNOWLES PAID STATIONS NOT TO PLAY LATOYAS MUSIC AND THIS IS NO LIE..PERSONALLY PEOPLE CAN SAY HE SHOULD NOT LASH OUT BUT THERE ONLY SO MUCH A PERSON CAN TAKE..ALL THESE THINGS HAVE BEEEN HAPPENING TO HIM AND HE HAS BEEN QUIET BUT IT CAN GET TO A PERSON..WELL I AM GLAD HE IS TALKING AND NOT ONLY IS HE LETTING HIS FANS KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING AT LEAST THEY CAN ACT..IF THE CD IS NOT INSTORE DEMAND IT..I KNOW A FEW WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN CALLING STORES AND DOING IT..THIS SUCKS..I MEAN HE SAID SORRY, PAYING FOR HIS CRIME SO WH Y WONT THEY LET HIM BE GREAT..PEOPLE WANT HIS MUSIC SO LET THEM DECIDE..RIGHT NOW HIS ALBUM IS DOING WAY BETTER THAN RIHANNAS..NUMBERS DNT LIE SO F*** THEM FOR NOT LETTING HIM BE GREAT..U CAN BLOCK BUT CANT STOP!!

ANYWAYS GOD BLESS HIM…RIHANNA AND HER TEAM WILL GET THIERS..THEY WILL NEVER SUCCEED NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY BACK BALL HIM..TRUE TALENT ALWAYS SUCCEEDS…THEY NEED TO LOOK AT THE CHARTS AND SEE THAT CHRIS BROWNS FANBASE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE AND IS MUCH MORE STRONGER THAN RIHANNAS..THEY NEED TO STOP PUSHING HIM BEFORE HE LETS ALL THE SECRETS OUT.. I’m quite sure if you and Trent give him a blow job he’ll feel much better!!!

LOL!!! You know how you 2 f*** roll!!! Yall breath stay smelling like “pull back” c*** cheese…

And don’t Blane the stores now Chris!!! You and your goons was on Twitter laughing at Rihanna album sales and saying go pick up lady gaga album and s***” Now L00K at your situation!!! Lol I rather have a CD selling for 99cents stocked in stores, than the stores hiding my s***!!! L0000000L  Karma No…?

  3. BUY Graffiti December 12, 2009

I am glad he had his rant, he shouldn’t take any s*** and stand up for himself, what thr stores are doing is bad, why the hell are they not stocking his CD, Chris ain’t going no where, they can try their best to bring him down but it wont work!!!

  4. Ronnie December 12, 2009

The owner of this blog is a bias Chris Brown Stan. He is spiteful towards Rihanna and praises Chris Brown every chance he gets. Chris is immature and so was his statement. When you do wrong, there is a consequence. In Chris’ case a huge one because he viciously attacked his ex girlfriend and thought a couple tv appreances halfway apologizing about the situation was going to put him back on good terms. But when that fails, he resorts to whinning. Gurrrl please!!!

He should have closed his mouth and let the situation play out. Now people are really done with him. It’s sad too because I hate to see any person fail. Oh well.

  5. scandalouscb December 12, 2009

This is wrong, i aswell am glad he let it out…graffiti is a great album but u know def jam and gay-z wont let him do what he needs to do…only god will know the truth…
and for those that wud say his only saying this coz of the sales…evidence is there…why didnt susans album get out of stock when it sold 700,000 and store workers have said that they were told not to re-stock it…EVIDENCE IS ALSO IN THE PIC…this is real and its wrong to do this to any artist….
    100% agree with @WTF

  6. luis December 12, 2009

that rant goes to show all of you how “sweet” and immature this god of yours is. just put some more work. like rihanna. she flopped but is still trying (see tv performances, shows, promo tours). Chris brown didn’t had the balls to deal with the situation and now he is paying for that. Karma’s a b****.

  7. me December 12, 2009

    Lol 90k? That’s gotta hurt.

  8. The Fat Lady Hasn’t Sung December 12, 2009

Chris isn’t going anywhere; true talent prevails. Everyone makes mistakes, all you can do is try to learn from them. Chris is paying the price for the mistake he made, and quite frankly, I’m not so sure this mistake was one-sided; people need to forgive and forget. People always root for the underdog, and if the industry and whomever else keeps trying to keep him down, people–whether they were fans are not, will support him. When all of this blows over, Chris will come out on top. He is young, has talent, and will be around a long time.

  9. SXSW December 12, 2009

After the success of his last album he had the world at his feet and HE BLEW IT!!

Don’t say f*** the industry when you ruined your own career.

His album is very average anyway. Nothing worth black balling. It’s not selling because he lost half of his fanbase (pop) and the album has no big hits. His woman beater image didn’t help either.

His angry outbursts on twitter just add further evidence of his explosive temper.

He killed his own career. And continues to do so. You think 106 and Park not inviting him to perform after dissing the BET awards was a coincidence ? Nope.

He went to MTV and even they didn’t give any himpositive press. The pop audience is fickle and they are over Chris Brown. They have Justin Bieber now.

The industry is saying F*** YOU too woman beater! Twitter that 😆

  10. Li December 12, 2009

Do we know why Chris Browns records arent selling…. Cos he F***** up his career :-)… It was his own actions that stopped him selling records. And if shops are choosing not to sell it then tough luck really!!!!

And Sam, how can you even begin to call this refreshing… Get off Chris Browns d***!!!!

A lot of Artists call things like this out every single day, and it doesnt go unnoticed…

Its funny how you posted this, and chose to JUSTIFY it to put poor Chris Brown into a positive light, go and f*** yourself.

Where is your post about ‘Graffiti’ being a commercial flop, cos when Rihannas number started coming in you were quick to make a post…. For those who dont know, Billboard has stated that his album is predicted to sell 95k copies, thats 200k copies less than ‘Exclusive’… Remember when Rihannas opening week sales were MORE than Good Girl Gone Bad?????? She FLOPPED…. Right Sam???? And then in the UK where she only got to number 16????? She FLOPPED…. We I would love to know how you are going to justify Chris UK Charting, cos according to the UK Official Charts Company, ‘Graffitti’ hasnt even impacted the TOP 40…. In Uk terms, what is that???? About 5k sales?????

Its a shame that you pick and choose what it is you report, while being so biased towards some artists and not to others…

As for the album its sounds like the last 2…. His is still squeeling at me… His balls need to drop….

  11. oreo December 12, 2009

just what his ass deserve God don’t like ugly so he definately thinks he would get let off easy and get number 1 automatically puhleease he needs to know it will take time doing this whole victim thing yet again (yall he did it before with that oh people shout abuse at me thing) what did he expect!! dumb ass b**** needs to stop thinking everything will go well for him based on his name. If you had really turned a corner God would have no doubt ensured you a success, don’t worry He has a plan and everything happen for a reason stating frustration aint helping noone but people who aren’t fans which I now am, i seriously regret copping that album now

  12. naug December 12, 2009

HAHAHA LI YOU AIN’T NEVER LIE TELL ‘EM COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT BETTER, HOPE YOUR POST DOESN’T GET TURNED TO SPAM smh

  13. DuMMies December 12, 2009

im not a chris brown fan..but honestly all the Chris Brown haters..F*** YOU..he paid his dues and accepted responsibility for what he did..unlike other people that threw him under the bus and still didnt accept the b******* they did..all he been doin was positive s***..and learning from his mistakes..giving his fans an appreciation tour and donating the money to charities..how many muthafuckas are out there doin that for their fans and not just for promotion..all u dumb muthafuckas that said hes gnna flop..hes doin just fine with f***** morons still blacklisting his ass..so like i said before F*** Ya’ll..im happy he finally said something bout this b*******..People wasnt quick to pull R.Kelly’s s*** and he was havin s** with little girls..this some bull..there are rappers that do waaay worse..but yet why when Chris does something its D-Day..man F*** this one sided society full of money hungry scary..ass muthafuckas..i hate to see talented people that are pulled down cuz of one mistake..and turn it into something positive to prevent other ppl from making the same mistake..n whats f***** up is when the industry know other people are dirty..they give them the whole world and yet their a still MuthaFuckin Flop..this s*** is annoyin and its not even my album..im glad he said something s***

  14. scandalouscb December 12, 2009

i feel sorry for folks that have to tear people down just to build themselves up.

  15. Addie. December 12, 2009

you people are F***** UP in the head.
it doesn’t matter what the f*** he did
retailers have NO right to not be shelving his album IF THEY HAVE IT

it’s against the law dumbasses, ILLEGAL.
    grow the hell up already.
i’m proud of Chris, what he said HAD to be said.
& don’t think this will f*** with his sales, cause it won’t…
if people want Graffiti they WILL get it.
so go sit down with your flop mess.

  16. kayla December 12, 2009

This isnt suprising they do this to alot of artist especially the ones who are making real music and it’s said but Chris Brown needs to realize you beat Rihanna like 10 months ago dude people are not going to let that go for a while you came back way too soon and your not getting people on your side by saying the industry can kiss your ass your just digging a deeper hole

  17. kbelize December 12, 2009

Folks blaming Jay-Z & Def Jam! JAY-Z IS NOT EVEN ON DEF JAM SO WHY WOULD HE EVEN GIVE A F*** ABOUT DEF JAM OR RIHANNA’S ALUM AT THIS POINT! HE MADE MONEY OFF OF HER BEST WORK ALREADY!

  18. SparkD December 12, 2009

PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY CD SHELVES ARE EMPTY and PEOPLE CAN’T BUY HIS CD.

    IT’S TACTICAL.

THEY ARE TRYING TO SABOTAGE HIS CAREER. Didn’t he get a felony, five years probation, domestic violence, 8 months hard labor and PUBLIC JUDGMENT OVER THIS.

    HE’S TRYING..AND IT’S RIDICULOUS!

  19. Kyle December 12, 2009

Sounds like misplaced anger… if the people really wanted her album (or anyone’s album for that matter), it’s very easy to find on itunes. I know when I want a cd, even back in the physical age, i found the cds I wanted somehow. There are millions of ways now.

  20. B@tch Please December 12, 2009

    Can we all say FLOP.

  21. Gary December 12, 2009

you guys must be the only ones that think his album is a great body of work

constantly putting down rhianna aswel, you guys should be ashamed of supporting a person who commits domestic violence!

  22. tiffany December 12, 2009

LOL @ COSTUMERS!!!! AS WELL AS NOT BEING ABLE TO SPEAK SENSE IN ANY INTERVIEW THE BOY CAN’T WRITE! IF YOU GONNA HAVE A RANT DO IT PROPER BOO BOO THE FOOL! His albums actually alright not worth the purchase though its just like exclusive no doubt he will re release graffiti

  23. layla December 12, 2009

FLOP and he FLOPPED HARD! LOL @ excuses both from him and from the runners of this blog yet they couldn’t wait to dismiss rihannnas album as a flop and say gaga was the new queen before finding out it was her best album sales in the first week along with beating gaga hahahahaha lolerz

  24. luis December 12, 2009

    LMAO!

  25. Anon December 12, 2009

Addie – you’re an idiot. It’s not illegal. No one has to sell anything.

If my wack album sold this badly with this much promotion, I’d be looking for someone else to blame too.

  26. real December 12, 2009

i think he is trying to come back too soon. he needs to chill for a second i don’t know what the rush was to get this album out when some are still thinking of him as a dishonest person

  27. Nick December 12, 2009

ONE WORD FOR CHRIS BROWN – SAD! Karma is a b!*ch son, & GOD don’t like ugly. I just can’t ever forget what he did, & I will NOT support him-EVER again..He does make good music, but he is a butthole-PERIOD! RIHANNA ALBUM is gonna soar, just watch….he hated, now it’s his turn to feel the pain-just like $.50 pennies did to Ja Rule, now look @ his sales-TANKED!! hahaha…I LOVE IT…RATED R in stores now (everywhere)….hahahahaha

  28. Dani December 12, 2009

It’s the holiday season, retailers are too busy to hide one person’s cd that they could be making a profit from. They stocked his cd based on demand. The demand was low based on the predictions. He should inquire how the people came up with the low album sales figure before publicly complaining about retailers.

  29. trucie December 12, 2009

    oh wow.

  30. trucie December 12, 2009

i also don’t think that this violent verbal outburst is conducive to cleaning up an already tarnished image. Don’t go beatin up any retail store clerks now Chris over this. And you will never be as talented as MJ so drop the comparison. All of MJ’s allegation were here say remember, whereas we the world has seen first class proof of your crime. I guess the music wasn’t great enough to make us forget and just maybe, just maybe you should have left Famous Girl off the album, I mean seeing as you not only broke Rihanna’s heart but her face as well u dumb f***!

  31. bobs December 12, 2009

Well, as I recall it was his lashing out on Rihanna’s face that got him into this place to begin with. That’s no one’s fault but his own. And he was QUITE DUMB to release an album so soon. Zomba/Jive must be trying to dump him off his contract.

Also, while this site loves the album – it’s one of the most critically panned of the year. So.. No one wants to buy a piece of s*** half-asses album from a girlfriend beater.

He is good at one thing tho: feeling sorry for himself.

I am beginning to think the stamp if approval from GRAPE JUICE is like a kiss of DEATH to a project. Everything they like here seems to FAIL miserably… (with the exception of Whitney..)

  32. wtf December 12, 2009

ha ha @ rihanna stans..his deluxe version which is the one selling is still at $13 so shut the hell up..even at discout of the normal version it never went to 3.99, then 99c and then being given free with a pizza..bwahhhh…

now i revisted the one shop that had said his cd had sold and caused a scene..suprise surpise, the cd started comming from the back…i bought it and was mad..thier reason was we just got it yesterday….fine i am going back tomorow and if i dnt see that s*** on the shelves somebody better hold me..they are playing and i am glad chris sent the tweet..there is power in word of mouth..his fans act unlike others…graffitionracks is already trending..talk about power of fans..if you want change, demand it..they are playing with the wrong fans..what they dnt realise is that his fanbase is strong and aint going nowhere..u can block but cant stop..graffiti better be on those shelves or someone is gonna get hurt…

  33. Sheemika December 12, 2009

I am pretty sure Chris will sell more then Rihanna and he didn’t have to drop is album to only $0.99 to do so lol. Nor did he have to argue with a 16 year girl to get attention lol.

Speak up Chris, if not for yourself then the others they are also doing this too. I bet they didn’t put the trick Rihanna CD is the back stock room.

Everyone say Karma is a b****!! Well wait until you see the KARMA Rihanna face, strike one was her album flopping, strike two will be a flop world tour lol. Can’t wait to see it all go down for Rihanna.

  34. Mr.727 December 12, 2009

This really shows his lacking of understanding of what he has done!!!!! You beat your girl past oblivion, then you use this woo is me gimmick to make people feel sorry for you so you can promote a sucky ass cd????????? Chris grow up!!!! Because you are light skin can dance, whatever does not make you the exception of the rule of karma! Everyone is right, sit your ass down, think about what you did, stop talking to the media sharks, cuz they only want to see another n**** fail!! Let’s keep it real people!!! I f he wants to really have success, go back to school learn about music management, front money to start your own label!!!!! All you are is a c*** m***** ass prawn shucking an jivin for these cut throat record companies!!! People with a sense of pride won’t just accept what you did!!! Even if she hit you does not give you the right to bash her head in!!! Education is so important, because if you don’t understand the technicalities of the business your ass is likely to be hung dry!!!!!!!! I keep saying this and saying this!!! It is time for good music to come back, people are tried of the auto-tune, fake pretty face, no talent ass music!!!!!

I guess because he looks a curtain way that he is automatically to attract album sales!!!!

Man go back to school, cuz they way your career is going, you better have a back up plan!!!

  35. stan December 12, 2009

so rihanna sold 180k first week and she’s a flop.

but chris sold 100k and suddenly, it’s the industry’s problem.

    lol, gtfo with that bs.

  36. dont take shyt December 12, 2009

I have a hard time believing that stores EVERYWHERE got together and made the decision to pretend that they did not have his album
    How did that work
what did they send out mass EMAILS to ALL the stores and EVERYBODY just agreed

I think that he needs to realize that actions have consequences and repercussions

  37. Crispy December 12, 2009

While I think that if a person wants to buy something they should have the opportunity…it is straight up b******* that stores aren’t stocking his album. It’s on iTunes and Amazon right? Alright then go and sit your whiny ass down somewhere and accept the fact that your album didn’t sell s*** and that your career may be in jeopardy over your domestic violence case. Maybe if he took some more time off and came across as sincere in his “I’m so sorry tour 2009”, rather than trying a victim, then he would have a shot at a comeback. Where he stands now…he is just digging his grave deeper.

  38. Suzy G December 12, 2009

I actually went to Best Buy the day his album was released and at first I thought they didn’t even have his CD. So I searched the entire music section and eventually found it. They had about 3 of his CDs hidden. They didn’t even have the deluxe version. Normally Best Buy dedicates an entire shelf (in the front for maximum exposure) to a new release, but they gave him about 1/40th of the rack. Because I wanted the deluxe edition I went to Target. At Target it was the same thing. I found 2 deluxe CDs and 5 standard CDs. The CDs look like someone just threw them up there. However there were about 50 copies of Rihanna’s Rated R in the new release section and her album had been out for over 2 weeks. It should not have been in that section. Target always had a poster of the new releases for the week, and they had every album on that poster besides Chris Brown’s album. Is this what Rihanna meant when she said there are more creative ways to destroy his career?

  39. perhaps December 12, 2009

I agree with WTF and Dummies comments…I hate the way they doing it…but whatever chris gonna be ok and still come out on top.

  40. thats not my name December 12, 2009

this can t be good for his anger mangament ..lolz.. he needs to hush..

    wtf did i say..

i knew karma was gonna bite his ass..

o mother fuc#ing well.. thats what he gets..

i dont wanna see his career over but he does deserve what he’s gettin..

in closing id like to say

MEN LIE WOMAN LIE NUMBERS DONT!!!

    take that.. tee hee hee

    oh ‘ yeah can u guys put up rihanna’s perfomances’s from popstar u & i.. that would be marv… plz & thank u

  41. Dani December 12, 2009

When you realize that the odds may be against you and it’s threatening your livelihood, you have options. Sit and complain or stand and fight. Get off your computer tweeting and man up! And to the fans, ask yourself how much of your time and money are you willing to sacrifice in the name of Chris Brown’s music career?

  42. AWOLLUVA December 12, 2009

Everything he’s done so far, from the jet skiing and basketball playing days after the assault, to his lame “I don’t wanna talk about this/I’m not gonna address that” interviews, to calling out BET and Oprah, to “Famous Girl”, to blaming the “industry” for ruining his chances of success, has only continued to taint his image, over and over again. He’s been making all the wrong decisions for the past 10 months, and it clearly isn’t helping.

Chris Brown needs to scrap the Graffiti project altogether and call it a day, period. He need to step away from the scene for a good while and really focus on himself before he officially makes a comeback into the music game (because this right here, folks, is NOT a comeback – don’t get it twisted!) People are saying he paid his dues already, but the rest of the public knows better than this. He’s nowhere near ready to be back in the public eye, as is apparent with this particular situation (among others.)

Everybody who isn’t a fan of his (and that’s most people) is unconvinced he’s learned and grown from his assault. That’s the problem right there. People wanna know that he’s truly cleaned his act up and is taking the appropriate steps to deal with his problems in a civilized and mature way. Coming back into the industry to tour and release an album when you haven’t even finished your community service and domestic violence counseling sessions yet is not convincing us he’s taking responsibility for his actions, and THAT’S why he’s being blacklisted. This n**** needs to get it through that thick skull of his that he needs to prove himself as a PERSON, not an ARTIST, before he can truly get back to where he used to be (if that’s even possible in the first place.)

  43. thats not my name December 12, 2009

@Mr.727 being “light skin’d ” has nothin to do with it.. that’s your hang up boo..

I agree breezy should’ve played the cut for a sec… go to school.. learn to speak.. & grow the eff up..

CHRIS FLOPPED BOTH DOMESTICALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. YOU CANT BLAME IT ON NO F***** POLIITICS. HIS ALBUM COMPLETELY MISSED THE UK TOP 40. EUROPEANS ARE VERY LENIENT.

  45. nick December 12, 2009

    RIH CANT BE A FLOP

    1ST WEEK WORLDWIDE SALES: 300K
    2ND WEEK 161K

    ALMOST 500K IN 3 WEEKS

    CHRIS- 100K+ FIRST WEEK
2ND WEEK, PROBABLY HALF THAT…..= FLOP

  46. bobs December 12, 2009

Rihanna could toss those 10k sales she got from AMAZON to Brown’s sorry ass, and it probably still wouldn’t help him cross 100k. Stop clipping your coupon’s Chris Stans.

After his Twitter incident, his album dropped like a brick on ITUNES to #7, just below Timbaland. I think he f***** his last 2 days of sales.

Crappy album, fake apologies, too soon to release… and now this angry outburst.. Breezy is officially nothing more than a puff of bad breath at this point.

He needed to wait until at least next summer to release a single, next fall to release an album, do lots of talk shows, and guest on hot songs.

He crucified his own career. I really think he is as dumb as a rock and arrogant as hell.

  47. ChampionX December 12, 2009

ALL YOU RIHANNA LOVING B****** MAKE ME SICK! YOU CAN SAY ALL YOU WANT ABOUT CHRIS BUT IT WONT CHANGE THE FACT THAT SHE GOT HER ASS BEAT! HAHA THAT! AND CHRIS WOULDVE EASILY OUTSOLD RIHANNA AND THE INDUSTRY WAS AFRAID OF THAT AND PULLED HIS ALBUMS! THATS THE REAL DEAL FOLKS. GET IT TOGETHER! AND ALL YOU FUCKERS WISHING CHRIS BROWN BAD, HE STILL GOT MONEY SWEETIES AND UR STILL WORKING 9 TO 5.. U WISH YOU WERE ON HIS D*** AND NOT RIHANNAS H***** ASS C******! THANKS… THAT B**** AINT INNOCENT!

  48. Ash Jones December 12, 2009

I agree with chris Brown on this one. Initially the reports suggest he would outsell rival Rihanna. But then Rihanna’s camp have used their influence to make sure that doesn’t happen. It should have nothing to do with what happened between rihanna and chris brown. At the end of the day he’s apologised (and i don’t think she’s 100% innocent, she probably has an equally violent side, i dont believe the way its been presented to us) and he’s produced a fantastic R&B album. Just because rihanna is over-manufactured her every album is a swag jack. (Music of the Sun – think Beyonce, Good Girl Gone Bad – think a mix of Beyonce, Fefe Dobson etc.) Rihanna thinks that by keeping up with the trends and trying to be fashionable will = sales. im sorry but at the end of the day Rated R is crap album because its not believable. At least Grafitti is a work of art showing the evolution of artist.

This is same thing as people like Brandy who can definately outsing many of the others in the industry but without the drive enginge of a big promo budget (Def Jam etc.) can’t get a break despite having big chart achievements early in their career.

  49. luis December 12, 2009

Rated R is all evolution. And graffiti… well, where has he improved? he was good before ok. but it’s the same lame s***. Rated R shows an evolution from rihanna who isn’t the best but has proved to be versatile and that is one of the qualities a long lasting artist needs. If i want to see a great show, i’ll go see beyonce. if i want a really good albu with great songs i go buy Rated R. It is what it is.

  50. king December 12, 2009

    karma is a b****? r u rihanna’s stans that damn stupid..what karma?
chris brown didnt have half of the promotions rihanna had and still managed 100,000..
last time I checked didnt rihanna album pulled 150,000 first week? wow 50,000 more albums makes a big difference..(sarcasm). and the reason it even sold that damn much cause for the first week the album was selling for .99 cents.
and for the people wo says chris brown career is over..Mmm he’s a songwriter too, that means 4 u idiots hes still gonna be making money regardless…

  51. king December 12, 2009

and I feel his pain..its not fair the stores are lying to the comsumers like that…yes he made a mistake but rihanna’s is not innocent in all this crap too..
he needs to take a break, go away for a while ..cause the truth is gonna come out sooner or later.
its sad that his album flopped, cause his very talented..smh

  52. NEMO December 12, 2009

U can not keep looking at the body of work of someone and not take into account their personal lives. As an artist and a fan myself, you learn to connect with your fans initially through your music and you keep them with being real and allowing them to see the personal side of you. Unfortunately Chris showed that side and f***** up and now he wants empathy, that is not how this s*** works. What he should of done was stayed his ass at home at least a year. Came out with something way hotter than “I Can Transform Ya” and maybe things would be different. B/c he failed to do so, HIS CAREER IS OVER! Bottom line.

Why don’t you Chris Brown stans go buy the cd , m********* to his pictures and STFU!!!!!

  54. Erica December 12, 2009

@ Real….I agree with you..He needs to chill, He’s not BROKE…he should really take this time out of the public eye…You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

Not putting his album on the shelves is WRONG. I look at it this way. If Lil’ wayne can call a WOMAN A B****…”shut up B****, Swallow”…that’s when I stopped listening to him, but they have NO problem stacking that mess on the shelves, DISRESPECT IS DISRESPECT, if you HIT a woman, and if you call a woman a B**** you have still disrespected her….bottom line is the world makes their own judgements, and it’s unfair. Chris brown probably does have a contract to uphold and that’s probably why he is still singing..but what they are doing to him isn’t right..let the world decide if they want to buy it..but don’t do him dirty, we don’t have a heaven or hell to put anyone in…bottom line.

  55. AWOLLUVA December 12, 2009

@ Erica, calling a woman a b**** and physically assaulting her are two completely different things, and are incomparable. Lil’ Wayne may refer to women as b****** in his songs, but he certainly didn’t beat up his girlfriend to the point where she had to be hospitalized. The issue here isn’t disrespect toward women, it’s physical abuse toward women. And the reason why Chris Brown is being treated this way is because he physically abused a woman.

  56. luis December 12, 2009

Leaving “the incident” aside, do you people really believe stores wouldn’t stock his cd on christmas season? i’m not sure if his and career and music has to be damaged by his personal life but that is what’s happening. so the other companies paid money to stores to not shelve “graffiti” and they did, therefore losing more money? that’s ridiculous. then, where would promo budget come from?

  57. DuMMies December 12, 2009

they dont even have his album on the shelves..if his album was sold out..wouldnt his numbers be up there??..think people..duh common f***** sense..they have his album in the back..and only stock like 2 n 3 say ohh we’re sold out or some s***..they’re straight blacklisting dude..what he did n his personal life..is none of the f***** publics business..women and men get they ass beat on the f****** regular..why ya’ll dumb asses aint stickin up for them and s***..instead hangin on dudes d*** and wishin negative on him..all i know the way the industry is carryin on about this..is ridiculous..cuz if this the case..they needa blacklist Every F***** Body In The Music Industry..It F***** up how Rihanna gets the world and it was this h*** fault he got in this mess..I dont condone violence but im f***** irked..I Hope Someone Whoop That B****** Ass and Wipe That Smirk Off Her Face..smh

    you people are dumbasses.

if Graffiti was a true “flop” than it would be on the racks & continue to stay on the racks.
the fact that stores are not restocking doesn’t make it a flop
people can still get the damn album.
    stores are being ignorant.

    it’s only in America.
cause this country is hypocritical & bias
it’s almost embarassing that other countrirs have remained more loyal
when we’re suppossed to be the “land of the free”
& promote “equality” . this country is full of s***…
take a damn seat with your irrelevant remarks.

  61. sad December 12, 2009

Not everyone has Itunes, I do not, you have to pay for the account, so shut up with that.
Not everyone has credit cards to order online from amazon. His fans base are young kids who just wanna go to walmart and pick up his cd.

They arent shelving his album, its sad. I hope he sells alot, but if they refuse to put his music out how can ppl buy it.

  62. Erica December 12, 2009

    @ AWOLLUVA

Im not the type to respond to people’s comments, but in this case, I must say:

DISRESPECT IS DISRESPECT…bottom line. My point is not to focus so much on HOW they disrespect women, but the fact is, whether you HIT a woman or verbally ABUSE her, it’s still disrespect. I don’t know if you are a woman, but I am a woman, and if a man hit me, or called me out of my name, IT’S DISRESPECT no matter how you look at it.

How can you sell a man’s album who DISRESPECTS women at all? I don’t get it. IM NOT COMING AT YOU in a mean way, I just want you to understand, HOW IS IT RIGHT to treat Chris Brown who is PAYING for his mistakes everyday to people he OWES NOTHING to???

THINK ABOUT IT…DOES CHRIS BROWN OWE YOU ANYTHING? NO HE DOES NOT!!! Apparently MISERY LOVES COMPANY, and miserable people need something to be miserable about.

He’s paying his dues, now what they are doing to him isn’t right….Say what you want about what YOU THINK DISRESPECT is…but I find it crazy that the world will support any type of disrespect to women.

  63. Erica December 12, 2009

    @ AWOLLUVA

Im not the type to respond when people come at me over the internet, I think it’s WEAK to argue over the net., but hey, that’s your opinion, and this is my opinion. okay…

Disrespect is DISRESPECT…if you slap a woman, punch a woman, call a woman a h**, call a woman a b****, YOU ARE DISRESPECTING HER.

I don’t know if your a woman or man AWOLLUVA..but you couldn’t possibly be a woman and think calling her a b**** and hitting her is not a form of disrespect.

My point was: “How can you feel okay about any type of disrespect toward a woman?” whether he called her a b****, or beat her up…BOTH CASES ARE WRONG..but they still sell music from men who DISRESPECT WOMEN..

IM SURE IF A MAN CAN TELL A WOMAN TO SHUT UP AND SWOLLOW HIS C**, THEN HE WILL HIT HER TOO..but anyway…the world is twisted. What they are doing to Chris brown isn’t right.

AWOLLUVA, I cosign everything you said. He should’ve stepped away for a while, but instead he carried on like everything was normal.

“Also, while this site loves the album – it’s one of the most critically panned of the year. ”

And Rihanna’s was one of the more critically acclaimed, but people still didn’t buy it. You really think it’s a just a coincidence that his are all bad and hers are all great? HELLO, it’s to ease her wounds and cause him pain, especially on a financial level.

Why didn’t R Kelly and Roman Polanski get treated like this too?

  68. real n**** December 12, 2009

AND I THINK THEM N***** HAD A FIGHT AND CB TOOK OFF ON DAT N**** SO NOW HE GO BLACK BALL A N****.HES JUST A FREEMASON.

  69. AWOLLUVA December 12, 2009

Erica, you may have misunderstood a bit what I said. Trust and believe when I say I agree with you that calling a woman a b**** and hitting her are both disrespectful. However my point was that of those two things, one is clearly a lot worse than the other, and the one who committed the worst of the two (Chris Brown, by hitting Rihanna) deserves to suffer by having his CD’s pulled, whereas the one who committed the lesser of the two (Lil’ Wayne, by referring to woman as b******) would probably not. Sticks and stones (and fists and teeth) may break my bones, but names will never hurt me…

You say Chris Brown paid his dues? How? A few days of community service? Lol, that’s funny. Is he not supposed to receive 6 months of community service? Is he not supposed to be attending domestic violence counseling? Yet here he is, only a few months after his sentence, going on tour and releasing an album. He hasn’t had time to “pay his dues”. He came back too early, and that shows insincerity and a lack of growth from the situation on his part. Coming back so soon put a very bad taste in people’s mouth, and that’s why stores will not let his CD see the light of day. Oh, and if being ridiculed by the public for what he did to his girlfriend classifies as “paying his dues”, I disagree with that completely. He deserves to be ridiculed, as all cowards who hit women do. He’s no different.

And as much as his fans may think we have no right to judge him, or (as I saw somebody say on another blog) he deserves his privacy, that’s not true at all. When you become a celebrity, every single aspect of your life is evaluated and out there for the world to see. When you decide to trade in a normal life for a lavish one in which you get VIP treatment everywhere you go, get the first table at a restaurant, get a clothing store cleared out so you can privately shop, be showered with acclaim and awards for your craft, and get paid millions of dollars and become rich for doing what you do, you also trade in your right to privacy, as well as the right to NOT be judged. That’s the way it works, and celebrities cannot have their cake and eat it too. Morally and figuratively we should not judge him, but technically that’s just not going to happen. He made his bed, now he needs to go away for now and sleep in it for a little while.

  70. anonymouss December 12, 2009

uuh…yea thats what happens when u hit people.
domestic abuse is NOT a joke.
he can’t expect ppl to open up their arms to him after what he has done, no matter how good his album is.
maybe if he comes harder with his next album he’ll get the success he deserves!

and btw, TONS of artists who dont beat on their woman get pushed back regardless of their talent being TWICE better than old chris breezy. he just needs to get used 2 the cruelty of the music business. he can’t be pop music’s pretty poster boy forever. he made sure of that!

  71. king December 12, 2009

@ rihanna’s stans..did u guys read this post before u started commenting on how sam is biased, and callin rihanna’s album a flop not chris”s? he did say chris’s album is a flopped too…
his album is not a flop because he has no talent..its a flop because stores are refusing to sell his cds, and he didnt have half the promotions rihanna had…and he released the album too soon.
for people who keeps bringing up hows he’s a women beater? do u guys even know what a women beater is? was he beating rihanna on the regular? NO
I dont condone domestic violence..this was Not a domestic violence situation, both parties were fighting each other, and rihanna lost period…..
and for the stans wo said he didnt show that he’s soory for his mistake..HELLO
hes taking full responsibility for the incident..not even once has he point fingers at rihanna.
I’m not even a fan of chris brown music, but its getting sad and pathetic how u stans are crucifying him 1 mistake he made…
if he was beatin her a** on the regular than I would feel soory for rihanna no talent a**.

  72. AWOLLUVA December 12, 2009

@ King, you can talk about how they were “both” fighting each other all you want, but did he have blood on his face? Did he have cuts and lacerations on his skin? Did he have visible teeth marks on his body? Did he have a bruised and bloodied lip? Did he have devil horns sticking out both sides of his forehead?

You’re crazy if you really think this isn’t a domestic violence issue, and guess what?? It doesn’t take “beating a woman on the regular” to be classified as a woman beater. It only takes ONE TIME to garner that title, and that’s exactly the case here. As for me, I’m not a stan/fan of either of these untalented pieces of s***, but as a woman myself (that’s in response to Erica’s question as to what gender I am) I will not and can not stand by and say nothing when a man hits a female.

And why are people calling it a “mistake”? He took his hand, balled it up into a fist and hit her in the face ON PURPOSE, folks.

  73. Truth December 12, 2009

Rihanna is a flop cuz she had way more press than chris. Chris was done an injustice ppl won’t play his music or videos or stock his album. To be disliked among the majority he did well. I think he is doing good not air rihanna dirty laundry cuz I’m sure she has alot. The industry needs to give him a fair shot and let the public decide to buy his album or not it’s not their decision to make for us. Please understand jayz/roc nation sponsors rihanna so jay probably had something to do with it.

  74. DuMMies December 13, 2009

Chris Brown’s album is not even considered a true flop..because people is blacklisting him..they wont play his music..let him perform on or at any venues..most radio stations wont even play his music..and now major stores wont even stock his album and that is so messed up..I think Rihanna’s people do have something to do with it..and who is the music industry to tell people what they should and shouldnt listen to..its like they saying..Chris Brown is no good..so we dont want u to listen to his stuff..But heres Rihanna and they’re shoving her no talent ass in our faces and down our throats..with her being everywhere..Man she sucks..nobody wnna listen to that s***..Graffiti is a very good album..with a nice style and body of work..And people want to call him a Flop..Naw u cant call him a flop..when his album isnt given a fair chance in the market..but when its not being blacklisted then tlk..he could outsell that whack ass brawd..wit no problem..cuz shes no competition..because his talent is that good..s*** 100k isnt bad..especially seeing how people dont wnna sell ur s***..and act like u did some heinous crime..Chris Brown never should have tried to protect Rihannas image in the first place..and he shouldve told his side of the story..and show how f***** up she really is..Cuz that b**** shitted on his career and almost single-handed destroyed it..i hope now he see how manipulative she is..Cuz honestly he made that h** famous..and she used him enough..to mess up his career..to advance even further..dont worry shes gnna get hers..cuz KARMA is a b****..and if u so-called loved someone..U wouldnt have used them that way..smh..damn..Chris Brown dont even have to worry..cuz his fans r gnna hold him down..he got them fans that mad artists would love to have on their side..hes gnna do good..and watch when n***** get they act together and stop playin..wit his music..hes gonna sell even more..he’s gnna make up..for this bad beginning

  75. Me December 13, 2009

Have any of you nuts stopped to think that maybe Chris Brown is in denial? His album’s first week sales are poor and automatically, it’s “the industry sabotaging his career”. This poor boy really thought that there would be no real back lash so long as he through himself at the mercy of the public. The fact is however, people can forgive you and move on but that does not mean that they will buy your album. Rihanna said something very interesting during her 20/20 interview. She said that “the black eyes and broken arm are going to heal. That’s not the problem. The problem is the scar inside.” The memory of what this person did. That is what Rihanna will have to live with. The memory of being repeatedly punched, bitten, threatened and nearly choked out by someone who was supposed to love her (when clearly neither of them knows what love really is). That is also what the public will live with. I may not hate Chris Brown. I may not hope that his career fails;but as a young woman I can honestly say that every time I hear his voice or see his face I am going to think about all of the horrible details I read about in those court transcripts and that’s painful. Chris Brown has caused pain. That’s the reality and most people(sensible people at least) are going to find it difficult to support someone who has caused so much pain. Yes. Chris Brown has a fan base;but that fan base has dwindled. Maybe just maybe the reason Chris Brown’s album didn’t fly off the shelves during it’s first week is because the public still needs some time to heal from the memory. I for one don’t understand why Chris Brown or his label thought it would be wise to release an album so soon after the “incident”. If he had waited an entire year(or two)before releasing another record than maybe he wouldn’t have this dilemma. Bottom line is Chris Brown made a bad choice and that bad choice is public knowledge and the public has an opinion(as we can see from the many post on this blogsite). The industry didn’t sabotage Chris Brown’s career. Chris Brown sabotaged his career. He said that the industry could “kiss his @$$” well, maybe that’s the way the majority of the public feels about Chris Brown right now. After that pointless, anger filled and immature outburst, Chris Brown can kiss our @$$ too.

  76. Raychel December 13, 2009

@ME I completlety co-sign with you, everything you said is dead on

  77. Erica December 13, 2009

    @ Awolluva,

okay my friend, I understand you now. . I respect your opinion.

I just feel celebrity or not…no one owes the world anything. That’s just my opinion, and I also feel, if he has already been judged and punished, WHO ARE WE to continue to pass judgement…celebrities bleed, and breathe just like the rest of us, just because they have money, shouldn’t make them any better then us. I do feel that the judgement passed on chris brown wasn’t taken seriously, any average man who beat up a woman like that would serve jail time. …but not putting his album on the shelves is WRONG..because he is paying his debt to society.

Judge not..lest you be judged,….if you judge someone else, you open yourself up to be judged too…I just don’t think it’s right.

    =]

  78. DuMMies December 13, 2009

smh@ denial..how when its true..i been to walmart and their not even stockin his stuff on the shelves..and one of my friends is an assistant manager there..so how is it denial..ya’ll so stupid yo..it makes no f****** sense..if his album was given a fair chance..that s*** woulda sold over 100k..so u negative ass dummies needa go jump off a f***** bridge wit a rope around yah neck..im not even a fan of chris brown..but this fuckery is uncalled for..and annoying

  79. Raychel December 13, 2009

@dummies where do you live? because where I LIVE, I personally went to best buy and wal mart in search of an ipod touch (didnt get one) and his album was fully stocked… picture and everything. and key word fully stocked, nooe was even buying it.

  80. king December 13, 2009

    @ AWOLLUVA
did u see chris brown pic from that night…NO
did u read the REAL police report from that night.. NO…
the police report was filed ONLY by rihanna, herself..she stated that she read the text messages, and asked him about it , he kept deying it, thats when she started hitting him on the face..and he bit her on the finger, and he snapped….those were her exact words…
now before u come at me..DO UR RESEARCH FIRST..
does that sound like a domestic abuse to u.. sound to me like 2 people fighting and 1 lost.
I’m not even a fan of chris brown.. but u people are making a mockery of domestic violence..and there are REAL men and women out there getting there asses kick on the regular.
any person with common sence can tell this is a case of revenge.and a woman scorned .thats y rihanna went on 20/20. bish aint no goddamn victim..read her interviews.
people like u can sit there all day long an argue his a women beater…what about rihanna, was it ok for her to put her hands on him too?
ill be first to say he should have never put his hands on her either..he was wrong for that too..thats y i say BOTH of them were wrong.

  81. Will December 14, 2009

I agree with everyone who says he should have waited to release an album. Plus we can look at the international numbers and see that his album isnt doing that hot. I work at a department/retail store and we had lots of copies his album. The only one that was sold out was lady gagas fame monster. I just think he needs more time to heal and just reflect. If you are a real fan then you should be able to look at his work objectively also. Im a mad alicia keys stan but i can say that this album isnt as good as here last. And right now Exclusive is his best effort. I hope his numbers turn around but i also think its childish to down rhianna for his numbers. If the album isnt selling well its just not. I was expecting some ground breaking tracks personally cuz his stuff usually goes hard but i feel like it was a rushed effort. All this rhianna and jay z are the devil and are freemasons and blackballing stuff is stupid. From a grown perspective he needs to regain his fanbase(which is mostly teenage girls) not throw tantrums. I would not want my daughter listening to artists that are cussing like that.

  82. Quentin Peters December 14, 2009

Seriously, Ima need for the owner of this blog to hop of CB’s nuts… it’s just ridiculous…

At this rate blogs will never replace serious journalism due to all this favoritism.

Regardless of whether you like him or not his rants via Twitter are childish and stupid.

Thankfully somebody at his label made him shut down his Twitter cuz it was not helping his cause.

I dont even like CB, never did (I’m so Team Rih) but “at the end of the day ” (lol) he’s a young black male just like me (although I’m older than him in body and mind) and I don’t wanna see him self destruct.

What he shoulda done was lay low until like Summer 2010 and then released his record.

His release was too soon and too close to Rih.

Good PR people would have told him to wait as having him go away for a minute (ala Kanye) would give people time to let the situation go.

Having him release just 2 weeks after Rih is only further tying him to the incident.

Too bad for him the damage is done now… and was it really worth it CB?

He has alot to learn about how the industry and how America works…

Chris Brown Cd is great ! i bought i the first day it came out ( true fan] but its really messed up how everybody is treatinq him because of one incident ‘ people put him up on a pedestal like , like he wasn’t suppose to make any mistakes. im glad he spoke up about it . not sayin wat he did was right but they both were wrong in the situation ‘ he’s apologized so many times what more can he do ? people should learn to forgive , i kno they wont forget – buh forgiveness is alwaysz a good first step. He seems very sincere about is apologies. I believe in im nd im bumping to graffiti right now ; cusz i luv him so much 🙂 everybody need to stop hatin on him ‘ get off his d*** aand stp suckin the situation worry bout ur own life and stp payin so much attention to his. yu treat him different cusz hes a celebrity wen if a regular person wouldve did it yu all wudve turned the other cheak. get over it he’s not the first man to hit a female – he wont b the last ‘ hes sufferin nd hes learned his lesson. sheesh !

To everyone that keeps bringing up God. God forgives so why can’t you? This is real talk. I am not a big Chris Brown or Rhianna fan so I don’t have a bias when I say this. Does a person have to spend the rest of there life paying for a mistake. Yes what he did was wrong and he has said that but that s*** was not one sided. R Kelly was on tape and everyone let that go so let this s*** go and find something better to do. Chris has something to say and he said it. Good for him. Keep your head up Chris. And to anyone who does no like my comments. Go f*** yourself because I could care less about judgmental b******. Quote me on that.
