Tamia kicks off the campaign for her new LP ‘Beautiful Surprise’ with its lead video of the same name today.
Reportedly shot in Malibu, the clip precedes the project which is believed to drop in August and features the singer’s husband Grant Hill.

It’s deeper than just “buying her albums” and all of a sudden she shoots to the top. She’s on an independent label because she wants to maintain control of her artistic direction and not become a puppet who is told what and how to sing by the majors. When you are signed to a major you essentially give up your rights to artistic freedom. People can buy her CDs all they want, but it essentially comes down to marketing and publicity that the majors can afford to spend on their cash cows. By the way, I am a big fan, I have purchased every last one of her albums and I’ve paid to see her live several times. I will never download her music for free. I did download “Beautiful Surprise” but just deleted it and bought the itunes version to show my support, now that she released it.
