Frank Ocean : “Coming Out Moved A Boulder From My Chest”

Published: Friday 20th Jul 2012 by David

This Sunday, British publication ‘The Guardian’ will publish a tell-all interview taken with Def Jam‘s very own Frank Ocean, two weeks after sharing details of his sexual past with fans via Tumblr.

Set to explore a number of topics yet to be addressed by the ‘Bad Religion‘ beau, an excerpt from the article has found its way online- giving some indication as to what readers can expect upon its full release.

Read below…

By way of The Guardian:

Frank Ocean has said that his decision to open up about his sexualitywas “about my own sanity and my ability to feel like I’m living a life where … I’m happy when I wake up in the morning, and not with this freakin’ boulder on my chest.”

In an exclusive interview to be published in the Guardian Guide on Saturday, the 24-year old R&B singer also identifies an element of altruism in his decision. “I wished at 13 there was somebody I looked up to who would have said something like that, who would have been transparent in that way,” he said.

Ocean’s comments follow on from his Tumblr post, in which he talked about falling in love for the first time with a man, and the release of his critically acclaimed album Channel Orange. He said that his open letter was written in December 2011 with a view to include it in the album sleeve notes in order to pre-empt speculation that might arise from some of its songs addressing men. “I knew that I was writing in a way that people would ask questions,” he said. “I knew that my star was rising, and I knew that if I waited I would always have somebody that I respected be able to encourage me to wait longer, to not say it till who knows when.”

The Odd Future member also downplayed the risk in his coming out. “People are just afraid of things too much … Sure, evil exists, extremism exists. Somebody could commit a hate crime and hurt me.

But they could do the same just because I’m black.

They could do the same just because I’m American.

Catch the interview in  full via Guardian Guide this Sunday.

A lost soul caught up in the sinful, demonic , sexually, sadistic deviant world of Showbiz. He needs prayer and jesus. If he has put his trust in the lord, he would not had to swim in the GUTTER for fame.

He is a tortured soul. Sadly, they would not have interviewed him if he did not come out.

Life is a lot tougher when black men embark on homosexuality. If they think, it will get white men off their back and more socially accepted. They should think again!

Ask the black gay men in South Africa – they thought by being gay, white Afrikaans men would magically accept them. They not / will not. Only thing black gay south african men have to show for the quest for being gay is………THE HIGHEST A*** IN THE WORLD.

    • Keepin’ It Real July 20, 2012

If I prayed then I would pray for you for your ignorance, Kelly. I really feel sorry for you and your stupidity, especially considering it’s 2012 and you should really know better than to make inflamatory, ignorant and misinformed comments like that.

      • kelly July 20, 2012

It maybe 2012, but GOD’S word is timeless. Everything I have said is TRUE – Check the plight of gay men in South Africa – hardcore out there, makes me wonder, why they would get involved in such a lifestyle!

      • kelly July 20, 2012

You can call me stupid all u want. God’s word is timeless. Do not pray for me, ask god to have mercy on the Batman movie victims.

        We all need christ.

    • TIMMI July 20, 2012

      Trolls are so boring.

    • SMH July 20, 2012

I’m sure God would prefer you spend less time on a “gossip”/entertainment blog site. This is a secular site. Is God okay with this?

    • Virtuoso Intellect July 20, 2012

U spend every breathing second of your life putting down Rita Ora, you sing Rihanna’s praises albeit her very obvious flaws and antics like she is your demi-god. Does that tally with God’s words? Or does it only count against people you personally don’t like but troll nonetheless. You’re a bully and i feel sorry for the impressionable people that that make the unfortunate effort of scanning through your dire judgemental paragraphs.

      • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

being gay is a SIN , talking s*** on a blog is not at the same level of a SIN. it is still wrong , BUT …..

        sorry son.

      • kelly July 20, 2012

I know,. Shut the f***,. You talk s*** on the bog too. I am new to TGJ, you wasted all your life here.

You are just mad, beacuse Rih made it and Rita flopped.

      • RICHANDBLACK11(JUST LIKE BEY) July 20, 2012

@pop on a c***….know sin is greater than the other, SIN IS SIN ……

        I thought Africans were INTELLIGENT…..hmmmmmmmmmmm

      • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

and seriously U say “bully” to another person ?

you called Rihanna every name in the book.

    • TALK THAT S*** July 20, 2012

    • mobwife July 20, 2012

I’m not sure what’s really going on but wow…..I hope this is not what young brothers feel they have to do to sell musc these days. I could respect his movement if he had chosen another moment in which to present his orientation.

I hope you have a GAY child! Lets see how you feel then.

      • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

        being gay is a choice.

    • MichaelAngelo July 20, 2012

Sounds like you need to do some extensive research about homosexuality and The bible. Your country ass is so far off the radar all I can do is laugh. I tell you about staff. LMAO

      • The Truth Will Set You Free July 20, 2012

        PREACH! lol

    • The Truth Will Set You Free July 20, 2012

      To be truthful…

It is religious extremists, like you, who have caused the plight of the South African gay male. Evangelists, who came to Africa offering peace, love, and salvation preached a traditionalist view on Christianity about the sinful nature of homosexuality. These teachings caused the religious leaders to start a campaign to eradicate, subdue, and silence any LGBT identifier in the area. Even going as far as creating legislation to fuel their hatred and justify their violent actions.

Your hateful, misguided, and erroneous words are only continuing to further mislead the people of today to be hateful and commit crimes that are inhumane and unbecoming of any true Christian that follows the teachings of unconditional love and non-judgment.

      I weep for you.
      I pray for you…

So that you may open your eyes one day and begin to question your beliefs so that they will grow stronger and more LOVE-centered. Even Jesus was criticized for going against the religious teachings of his time and he did have doubt. However, this inquiry, denial, and questioning did not deter him from his faith–his faith became stronger.

So I challenge you to fully understand your beliefs.
      Ask:
      1) Who?
      2) What?
      3) Where?
      4) How?
      5) When?

And begin to THINK about these things…

Stop using the Bible to defend the Bible. That argument is tired, played out, and has no foundation. Give your faith and beliefs substance.

      Use your brain!

God did not give you a brain to just let it sit there. THINK!

  2. truth tea July 20, 2012

coming out also moved those albums of that shelf.

    • Walter July 20, 2012

He might move this album but I bet he would not move another one in this manner

    • RICHANDBLACK11(JUST LIKE BEY) July 20, 2012

that , plus the album was great

  3. the real xoxo July 20, 2012

the album was decent, but lets be real if he never came out it would have been slept on. Nas “life is good” was better even though its rap.

  4. the real xoxo July 20, 2012

but lets not act as if any of our faves havent done anything for publicity

    • pat July 20, 2012

right!! even if the the timing was for the album…so what!!! people have pimped everything from weight loss to pregnancies in the name of album sales….haters have seats

    • Walter July 20, 2012

But nothing like this. Everyone knew that Luther V was gay but he NEVER came out to tell the world fearing his career. Another reason alot of females were buying his albums. Same with Freddie Jackson never told the world because this could damage their career. This probably will happen to Frank because after this has sank into people heads he will never push many albums again. I have a gay male family member and he bought Franks album and he said you can tell he’s singing it to a man or men. I jumped on the bandwagon also and download his album off itunes. After my family member told me about the songs on Frank’s album, I have no desire to listen to it again. Nothing against gays to whom this album was made for anyway

      • RealShyt July 20, 2012

But you missed a very important piece of what he said. He wished that at 13 someone would have been man enough to stand up and say this is who I am and there is nothing wrong with that….I agree with him. He has probably helped so many young males and females who suffer with being homosexual, bi-s**, whatever that are dealing with these emotions in a world that tells you u are wrong for feeling that way and bases it on religion. Kids suffer everyday and deal with these issues, if they had good positive role models to stand up and say yes you are gay, but that is only a part of who you are, and look at what you can achieve, dont let others discourage you, be who U are, and live ur life for you and ONLY you….there would be a lot more happy people in the world. The whole world lives their lives the way they want and does whats best for them…yet judgement gets passed on gays when they attempt to do it and be happy. People need to mind their own f****** business and live your own f****** life and stop spreading hatred and dividing each other

      • Virtuoso Intellect July 20, 2012

Im shocked by your viewpoint. So would u rather Frank stayed in the closet for fear of sabotaging his career? Practically living a lie. Your references could better be used to cite how far this music industry has come over the years. Anyways talk is cheap, Frank is out. Some people are mad it’s benefitted his career rather than hinder him

    • mobwife July 20, 2012

No, this was not like any move any of my favs every tried. 0_O….Most of my favs never try to pull anything .The media simply choices to highlight something about them either good or bad, during the release of their music or new film.

      • Virtuoso Intellect July 20, 2012

Ur fav leaked pic of his penis specifically on the heels of his album release. The media only helped him spread it. U have no room to talk TeamBreezy fangirl. HUUUUUUUUSH

      • truth tea July 21, 2012

arent you a chris brown stan? LMAO he is the king of publicity stunts. from the drake diss released days before his album, rihanna remixes, penis pictures, photo of his papercut etc

  5. JohnVidal(RIP Whitney-truegreat) July 20, 2012

Great read. He is just telling truths. If you feel pressed about him selling more cos of the coming out then that´s silly. Just pressed cos your favs are not doing too well. Absolutely every artist has had its own different type of hype. Frank´s hype is about him as a person and as an artist, not about lies or disgusting videos

    • PYTFROMAL July 20, 2012

      EXACTLY!

    • Yeezy July 20, 2012

      @johnvidal.. thank you!! well said!

  6. coco July 20, 2012

and scared all the females that ever slept with u….

  7. im July 20, 2012

what….he is still milking this..well he might sell another 100k units next week, this is is gimmick and it,s working so well for him so milk it yes until it,s dry like a dessert sand..i want to see what he tries next when this is over,as someone said this is the year of the gays..he is doing everything right so them gays is going to go out in droves to get that album,i an sure alot of them out there wish they could have sold this gay gimmick so great like franky, and none of don’t come at me now acting the fool like yall don’t know that he did this to sell them records.

    • Virtuoso Intellect July 20, 2012

Its not a gimmick. He just came clean about his sexuality that is all. All our favs get asked hot topic questions when they cover mags. Why should his case be any diff? Elephant in the room?

    • Yeezy July 20, 2012

@im… when you look at people like riahanna, beyonce, janet , britney and madonna, who do you think elevate these peoples career? gay people are all over the industry (behind the scene). I’m so sick of people thinking that straight people are ssooo above all. Gays are born with a gift of talent in many ways that straight people cant understand.

    • jerry July 20, 2012

Next album Frank will tell the world that he’s getting married to a female.

    • Nacole July 20, 2012

      Frank is no gimmick baby!!!

It doesn’t matter to me if he’s gay/bi or undecided because the man has bonafied talent which is what real music lovers crave…..

  8. dustin July 20, 2012

its crazy and ignorant to assume that frank would come out as a way to move records off of shelves. he is in a sect of the music industry that is rife with pervasive homophobia (fans and artists alike). lets be real, homophobia disguised as dogma is disgraceful. this was a huge risk and quite frankly i’m surprised that the album did as well as it did all things considered. he is a great example to the music and movie industry. personal happiness is more important than success and the opinions of countless people you don’t know. its too bad the likes of rock hudson and montgomery clift didn’t have the opportunity to liberate themselves.

and to everyone saying (and that will say) that he is a sexual deviant and a sinner, please meet my friend chata fuckup. i’m fairly certain that jesus told the pharisees to worry about the log in their own eyes rather than trying to pick a splinter out of the eyes of others. oh and stop quoting leviticus. its tired and redundant. lol

    • mobwife July 20, 2012

What sect he’s in R&B? Country is more biased and homophobic than R&B are you kidding me?

Country = middle America these folks “love” God, Guns & their Glory!

      • dustin July 20, 2012

uh… if you haven’t noticed R&B isn’t really the sultry, sweet genre it used to be. its not a bunch of singers posturing like rappers. its ruled by the homophobic machismo of rap… nuff said.

can’t even count how many times i’ve heard chris brown and others refer to other dudes as “f******”

      • jerry July 20, 2012

Never heard Chris Brown refer to dudes as f****** but Lil Wayne raps it in his song. “You F****** Scared” in the song Look At Me Now.

      • Nacole July 20, 2012

@Jerry…No Chris don’t refer to men as “f*gs unless he’s fussing with men on twitter….

  9. kelly July 20, 2012

I worry about the women he sleeps with too.

    • dustin July 20, 2012

he came out as bisexual, not as someone suffering from H** or any other s**.

safe s** is safe even if you’re sleeping with men and women. now ladies have the full disclosure. either his bisexuality will be irrelevant to them or they won’t sleep with him. simple as that.

at least he isn’t like all the down low dudes screwing dudes in hiding without condoms then going home to sleep with their wives. THATS how you spread disease.

      • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

bi”something” ppl transfer A*** to women as well , cuz they are DUAL !! Confused as f*** about their sexuality.

      • mobwife July 20, 2012

Yes, he came out as a bisexual meaning he’s slept with both sexes! That is a concern for most women. Let women know where you “stand” and let them make the decison to deal if they want.

      • F*** YOUR FEELINGS July 20, 2012

You claim to know about Christ so much, but who are you to judge anyone? And if anything, what does his truth have anything to do with your daily life? You people try to use Christ as a crutch but don’t see your own hypocrisy when putting someone else down because you feel somewhat sovereign. B**** have a seat.

    • BeReal July 20, 2012

      you are so stupid.

A man has the same chance of catching a*** if he sleeps with 100 women as if he sleeps with 100 men.

If you want to keep it REALLY real, the reason african american women have such a high A*** rate is because (and i know some people won’t like this) because SOME of us are in relationships where we allow men to go out and cheat and sleep with us unprotected.

Just look at Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. People dont see how serious cheating is until they catch a disease from a partner who decided to play away from home.

So your gay a*** theory can back to the ignorant hole it came from.

      • Yeezy July 20, 2012

i know straight women who will f*ck anything that has 20$ in their pockect.. why arent those “straight” people being judge for a***?

      • jerry July 20, 2012

Some women are so hard up for a man they will accept him as being bi

    • Nacole July 20, 2012

You need to be worried about who you’re sleeping with instead of what Frank is doing sexually….

  10. Meeks July 20, 2012

I hate when people wanna talk about God this and God that……so hes a sinner….arent we all???Are you not sinning by judging him??? What ever he does or how he chooses to live his life is between him and his God!

    • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

yes we are all sinners , but we gonna do all kinds of sins and then go and say ” cuz we are sinners” ?!!!

      so let’s kill ppl , let’s steal , let’s r*** young ppl ad say ” aren’t we all sinners” !!

your logic is f***’d up kid. 🙄

      • pat July 20, 2012

only difference is there are laws against killing, stealing, and raping..EPIC FAIL..have a seat

      • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

WOW !!! what kind of role model is that who gon tell me to disobey god’s words ?!!

a hooker ?! a gay stripper gon be some kid’s role model ?!

honestly , this a straight BS.

and WTF is ” be who you are” ?!! so i’m gonna go and say ” be who you are ” to an addict ? a crazy man who need some psychological therapy ?!! WTF is that ? if you are doing something wrong you need someone to say ” what u do is wrong” , this is not judgmental at all !! this is Correct !! (of course it depends on who’s talking and if he/she care about you or not) , and if someone really love you won’t let you do something wrong !! especially the ” anger your god” kind of wrong actions like being gay.

      • Common Sense July 20, 2012

Speaking of disobeying god’s words we should enslave africans again. After all the bible condones enslaving humans and we’re clearly disobeying it. Oh and that’s not old testament either baby gurl since I know how much you jesus juicers love to play the whole “that’s old testament it doesn’t count” BS.

I STAN for the damn album.

“Sweet Life” is currently my #1. Kicking Adele’s “Lovesong” to #2. (As for “First Love” and “Melt My Heart to Stone”, they’re my #0 and #(-1), LOL)

Anyway..I feel like this man is gonna be the male version of Adele. and I mean I GOTTA FEELING, don’t try to ADELE-knife my neck now.

I have nothing against Gays. I think he did the right thing to announce his homosexuality/bisexuality to the world. Imagine how many people would’ve ran away from him if it had to be LEAKED by some Lady GaGa-asslicking media source, by the release of his 3rd or 4th album.

    @Kelly

The man spend THE FIRST WEEK OF HIS CAREER on the albums’ chart, and already starting to whipe the floor with his SMELLY N***** ass???

    For God’s sake @Kelly.

If he BASICLY hasn’t seen enough s*** since he was a CHILD, he MIGHT have thought about throwing a Rat’s ass on YOUR opinion.

It’s been like PURE BLACK s*** for 24 years with him, and now he’s gonna release hit albums, sell, and GET MONEY!!!!

You either accept the Bible or you don’t and I accept but struggle with the idea that it calls homosexuality a sin. I accept it but don’t understand it. I dont disregard it because it doesn’t fit my way of thinking.

A lot of people say things like “well that’s Old testament” but so what, so were the Ten Commandments.

I completely get that most people who use the Bible to bash gays are hypocrites because they engage in activity the Bible also condemns but take that up with them NOT the Bible.

If im ranting I apologize but Im tired of people who think they have the right to bash Christianity or any who don’t feel the need to support gay rights.

I think we should respect everyone’s rights to live how they want to as long as they are not harming anybody or anyone.
This is why I am for gay rights and gay marriage even though I would consider myself a conservative Christian.

So please, don’t think you have the right to insult Christianity because you don’t like it. In the same way you’d like others to respect your opinions, learn to respect others at the very least.

    • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

hmmmm , i liked the ” take it or leave it” part !! cool , so if being christian is what make you feel sad about being gay so how about stopping being christian ?

you know you will anger god anyway ……. so y not ?!!

good idea !!!!! coming from a conservative christian !!

      • BeReal July 20, 2012

its not my job to tell others how to perceive the Bible because that is between them and God. But I struggle with the Bibles stance on Homosexuality because even though it does not say people choose to be gay it does regard it as a sin punishable by hell.

        My confusion lies here:
If a person serves God and is a good person will it mean nothing if that person is gay?

That’s what kills me. Because I don’t understand why God would do that people he loves, and as someone who God has blessed more than I deserve to be it hurts me that I am even questioning his word.

Once again, sorry If i ranted. All in all, I think we should treat ALL law abiding citizens with the respect and treat every law abiding stranger as a possible brother or sister.

So any who want to sit there and judge Frank for living his truth can go right on ahead, but it’s better to come under fire your being honest than be loved for living alie.

      • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

Look , i like your reply and that’s why i’m gonna respond , but i would like to first note i am NOT christian , i’m muslim and i’m aware enough of Christianity since it is mentioned numerous time in my religion, But cover me if i said anything wrong considering it 😉 , but i think holy religions agree on the common issues like “sexuality” !
        anyway ..

i like this question in here :
“If a person serves God and is a good person will it mean nothing if that person is gay? ”

well , i think when God created “Adam” and “Eve” , he created them for a reason , Reproduction !! God always have a reason to do something , we “humans” might not “get/understand” the reasons all the time , But there is always a reason for anything god say or do !! just cause you don’t know the reason or u don’t like it doesn’t mean you will do the opposite !! he created U ! and U have to do what he say whether u like it or not !! if you are faithful or a”conservative christian” as u say !! he created U , and for sure he gonna love what he Created !! but also , he won’t love you if you constantly disobeyed his orders , right ?!!

U also know that u know the meaning of a thing if you experienced the opposite of it ?!
like U will know the meaning of “love’ if you experienced “hate !!
that’s also the thing , love & hate can be found on the heart of the same person , so why not God ?! Why not ? he asked U to obey him and do what he wants , and u should since he created U !! that’s how i see it ! if u don’t like it , be atheist and then u can be gay freely and do whatever u like , u will be like an animal living to fulfill your desires !!!!!!
Look , somethings can’t handle hypocrisy !! and be religious or not is one of them !! how u gonna be a good religious person and support homosexuality , which your religion stated clearly it is a sin ?!

        Exactly ! doesn’t sound right !!

And You don’t have to know the reason why God created something or did something or said something as well !! you have the option to obey or to disobey your god !! the situation is like : all or nothing ! take it all or leave it all !! ON or OFF kind of stuffs !!

Like for example if you liked a T-shirt or some stuffs , will u buy it all or you gonna buy only parts of it ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😯

EXACTLY !! if u believe in Christianity u gonna believe in it all , right ?!!

and questioning God as a measure you are a good religious person. if you don’t question that is what’s wrong 😀

but i’m not With killing them or doing such violent things to them tho. that is childish and immature !

      • Common Sense July 20, 2012

Speaking of Adam and Eve, how did they populate the world again? Did Eve’s children have s** with her to make more babies? Or did Adam have s** with their daughters to make more? Speaking of hypocrisy your prophet Muhammad was a known p******** but apparently that is A-OK compared to homosexuality

  17. i’m not throwing shade, but… July 20, 2012

I agree and disagree with some of the content of the comments. With the comment above i think sexuality and emotions are sometimes irrelevant in music, I listen to music by both male and female artists but the emotions are still the same, you would just change the words if singing them out loud. Example: the few times i have had my heart hurt or broken songs by females i have related to as well as songs by males because emotions are emotions, Mary J Blige – not going to cry, Fantasia – free yourself are ones that fitted my situation perfectly although i’m a heterosexual man.
In terms of Kelly who made the first comment, why is he being cursed for stating his beliefs? He believes in god and i am happy for him, some people her worship Beyonce and Rihanna using their names in variations jesus or god and are allowed to comment.Everyone should be allowed to have their voice/say regardless of our beliefs

    • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

when you listen to a song , you look for anything in it to relate to a moment you been through in life , you have sad songs about breakups , you have songs about clubbing and s*** , you have songs about almost every kind of life aspects to choose from !! but you also have the choice to buy whatever you like and listen to whatever you please !!

so every gay person ” black and white for that matter” bought ” channel orange” ?!! NO , cuz you have the choice !! straight ppl have the same thing !!! CHOICE !

despite he say “he” in some of the songs as i said for pp ?!

that was specific !! and that’s why a lot of straight people won’t find it relatable !! so how they will enjoy it ?!!

      HOW ?

      So ……..

i HAVE THE CHOICE to buy his songs or not for whatever reason ! I’m free and my hard earned money will go to whoever i please !!

  18. BeReal July 20, 2012

    @BeReal

@Kelly doesn’t really deserve all that respect. Tone it down.

She may KILL for Rihanna, as you know, the #1 over-exposed singer, at least for right now.

and No, she’ll never get to changing any thing. It’s still gonna be what it is.

The WORLD isn’t for her and her untalented gimmic idols. It is for TALENT.

No matter you’re Gay or straight or s***. You’re talented, you’ll get the LAST laugh.

    ADELE has already proved that.

    . . .

Anyway, I don’t think it’s a real crime for someone not to break into the world countries with his music from the first time. Adele couldn’t crack the United States from the first album, 19, the best album that could ever be recorded. But now look –> !!!

I think it’s gonna be the same thing for Frank. I hope the best for him. If this time it didn’t work, it’s gonna work the next time for sure.

Did you even read @LA comment before you open your Adele/Rihanna-asslicking MOUFF and talk?

    You better do!

1- Why reply s*** like “ADELE MUSIC >>>>>” on a comment you didn’t even READ??? Reminds me of nothing but some CHRIS BROWN fan…

From my 1st comment, WHAT PART OF “I’m an ADELE STAN” was the hardest to understand with you???

2- @Los Angeles Habeebee, considered “21” a FLOP for a reason that Muhammed only knows, and I was just telling her that: THAT WAY, 100% of Rihanna’s discography could be considered a FLOP, because MAXIMUMLY, her most successful album sold 10M copies, 13M less than the “FLOPPED” “21”.

    3- Mad @ WHAT???

Rihanna winning IN NINE YEARS the same number of Grammys that Beyonce won in a single NIGHT??

With 66% of them being originally won by RAPPERS????

Maybe you mean MAD @ Beyonce having more “NOMINATIONS” than 2x Rihanna’s AGE. Maybe?

    • MichaelAngelo July 20, 2012

The sad part is that people believe what the want to believe. 98% of the people that say being homosexual is wrong haven’t even taken the time to read the scriptures or do any research on this topic. You just go by what your tacky ass grandma used to say before she died of congestive heart failure because she ate too much pork and had 5 husbands and was f****** since she was 12….all situations that would send a person straight to hell according to The Old Testament.People need to do their research.

      • Negrodamus July 20, 2012

Exactly! General sayings like “God made Adam and Even, not Adam and Steve” does not constitute knowing Scripture. People should quit hiding their disapproval of homosexuality behind Christianity. Aside from this one issue, most people are unconcerned with what the Bible says anyway.

It’s okay for people to get into fights in the club or get pregnant, or even dye their hair strange shades….but it’s not okay for frank to speak on some real s***???None of you cowards making harsh and negative remarks know’s what it’s like to go through something like this. To feel forced to hide who you really are because of ignorant and under educated mind sets that have nothing but negative energy to diffuse. 28. Avenger July 20, 2012

The bottom line is that Frank’s album would have flown totally under the radar had he not used this well-timed stunt to generate attention. I have to laugh when people get on blogs and boards pretending to actually like his music. 😆 Yeah, right. Where were you a month ago when the name “Frank Ocean” was proceeded by the sound of crickets? Where were your Frank stan hats then?

Frank’s success is attributed to 3 things:

    1. The gay community blindly flocking to him and his album, simply because they’re stoked that they can claim another celebrity as a team member. This includes Sam here at TGJ. He had virtually never posted about him previously, but has been on Frank’s nuts ever since “the announcement.”

    2. Phony ass liberals who pretend to his music in an arrogant attempt to paint themselves as open-minded and “enlightened”. Again, where were you a month ago? How much time did you spend online hyping this guy BEFORE he declared his love for other men’s penises, and you decided to use him as an excuse to side with left side of the culture war?

    3. Endorsements from phony acting celebrities who’re clamoring to attach their name to a much talked about story.

None of it has to do with the music, so quit telling that lie.

    • POP ROYALTY ( F*** Yo Fav) July 20, 2012

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS.

    • MsThing485 July 20, 2012

Agreed. Most of this Frank love is disingenuous and is rooted in his being a hot/controversial topic. If he hadn’t made that statement, his album would have performed about as well as one by Marsha Ambrosius, Anthony Hamilton and Leela James. He’s a fad and you know flaky people love fads (while claiming that it’s the real deal.)

    • S****** Blonde July 20, 2012

I agree, i didn’t know about this guy until the last two weeks.

    • CzarM July 20, 2012

The media is doing a really good job of implying that if you somehow can’t get down with Frank, then you’re nothing but a stunted homophobe whose bigotry blinds you to “good music”. GTFOH. I’m not being conned into supporting that con artist. While pretending to be humble and aloof, Frank is every bit the gimmick that Gaga is and has about as much sincerity as Katy Perry.

    • Common Sense July 20, 2012

You are unfortunately right. Gay audiences usually flock to whoever is supporting them or coming out. Albums like Born this Gay and comic books like the one with the gay hero getting married to his partner are prime examples of this.

these comments are very sad to read. to know people harbor so much aggression, animosity, and vulgarity to homosexuals. knowing that they would probably not voice their opinions aloud. its just very sad. it may be 2012 but we have a long way to go. smh.

  31. curious George July 20, 2012

    One frank is BISEXUAL

aMany of you are so clueless about facts.

One person said, “A man has the same chance of catching a*** if he sleeps with 100 women as if he sleeps with 100 men”

Tell that to experts who research the diesease and really know’s how it works. unlike you. DUMBass. this type of ignorance tortures my heart. SMH.

Also, I don’t blame a woman that says they can’t relate to the music. How can they when he’s talking about her major sexual organ in “pink matter” hw great it is and turning around talking about sexing a man. That is downright confusing. And this is the issue in the african american community these days.

Bisexual is GAY as far as Frank is concerned and you all know it. Can he shut it down? What about marriage and havng children? S*** what about monogamy? He likes to have s** with MALES and FEMALES. How can he just cold turkey go to one desire? Explain

  32. curious George July 20, 2012

Why this coomment is DUMB and WRONG
One person said, “A man has the same chance of catching a*** if he sleeps with 100 women as if he sleeps with 100 men”

Based on his statement, a man is having s**, unprotected I may add with 100 women, one or two out of the pool has A*** (because that is the only way this makes sense). he may not get A***. Its only a very small percentage that he will.

BUT if one or two men have it, he will very likely get it. It is a very large high percentage. Why do you think the disease started in the 80s as a gay white male disease? People and this homo phobia crap is misleading and covering up the truth.

Now if he is having protected, responsible s**, he should be fine but Bi sexual individuals are s** cravers. SO whose to say this happens often.

  33. Nacole July 20, 2012

Frank got heart and he got talent!!!!

  34. Proud TGJ Site Supporter July 21, 2012

It’s crazy how society and the mind creates forces in ppl lives. Frank said he had a boulder on his chest b/c he hadn’t shared with the world who he’s attracted to. I wonder if he ever examined and asked himself why? Do straight ppl have boulders on their chest if they don’t tell the world or confirm they are straight? For some odd reason it seems like many ppl in the LGBT community feel the need to voice they attraction without being asked directly. Who you are isn’t solely defined by your attractions and it’s b/c society has condition us to think that man/womanhood starts first with sexuality we feel like it’s that much important than our talents, character, actions etc. Man who cares who you fell in love with first out side of those who really care about you. Does everybody else deserve to know that much about your intimate life? I wish the LBT community learn that them feeling the need to say… hey, I’m Terry and I’m gay upon introduction only adds to them looking abnormal. Many straight men are homophobic b/c the swear that if around a gay dude he’s automactically attracted to him and will he has a shot. Now just think if a gay dude introduces himself to a straight guy and one of the first things out of his mouth was..I’m gay. It can make one wonder…why you felt so press to tell me that and I don’t know you?/lol Seriously… If normalcy / equality is what you seek than carry yourself as such. There’s no NEED at all to volunteer who you are attracted outside of the normal things like engagements and all the traditional ways ppl inform their loves about relationship statuses. I understand that Frank wanted to address his lyrics but I would have much rather him release his music, sing about who he wants to and look at everybody like what? My love isn’t any different then yours and if interviewers would have had enough balls to ask him directly is he’s gay.. then say yes and keep it moving. No need to draw extra attention b/c that’s when it looks abnormal. Oh yeah, I’m attracted to guys and back to my album. Beyonce doesn’t have to do a whole spill about why she loves men and how she discovered she loves men…lol smh This is why it SEEMS, not that it is.. like he’s exploiting his sexuality and the community. Niki has yet to confirm she’s bi, Queen Latiah has yet to speak on being gay. Why? b/c it’s not that important nor is it anybody’s biz and just like heterosexual stars preserve their personal life so ppl don’t speak curses over them…so should the LGBT community. Be you, live just as loud as the straight ppl and let them question, assume and think what they want. Being free doesn’t mean put a billboard on your back. It’s about self acceptance and not being ashamed when addressed. I’m done…

    • MichaelAngelo July 21, 2012

I have to agree to disagree with you.No one should have to explain who they are but in a society where being gay is so harshly ridiculed and looked down upon, some people have to get it off their chest by voicing who they are. The LGBT community wouldn’t have to introduce themselves as gay or bi if dialog deemed offensive wasn’t spoken in such harsh ways. I recently had the pleasure of exploiting my personal sexual business at work because no body knew about me and these guys would sit around talking hurtful and unnecessary words about gay people. I’d had enough of the lies. Heterosexuals don’t have to announce themselves as heterosexuals because it’s seen as being normal. Why announce something that is normal within your community? That doesn’t make sense. No gays shouldn’t have to announce themselves but sometimes you have to let the outside community know what they are dealing with before someone get’s hurt.

Rihanna is keeping the crew on her holiday yacht awake with her partying.

The 24-year-old singer has booked a reported £100,000 cruise on the French Riviera so she and pals including love interest Drake can enjoy a fun-filled vacation but exhausted staff are struggling to keep up with her late nights.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “The gang stayed up singing and dancing until dawn.

“She’s a lovely girl but the crew are only getting a few hours sleep a night. And they have to be prepared to be vigilant and make sure she doesn’t get hammered and fall into the sea.”

Rihanna reportedly stocked up on 25 bottles of gold Armand de Brignac Champagne, 60 bottles of Peroni and C***** beer and 10 bottles of tequila.

The ‘We Found Love’ hitmaker has decided to give her on/off relationship with Drake another chance following the death of her beloved grandmother known as Dolly.

A source previously said: “Rihanna is determined to live life to the full following her grandma’s death and decided to give it another go with Drake.

“In the past he’d moan that she wouldn’t commit and was working all the time. But she’s up for trying again.

“They’ll spend a week cruising around the Mediterranean.

“Rihanna wants to travel down through Italy and go to the most romantic places she’s seen online
