Joe Biden made history today when he was officially named the 46th President elect of the United States after a hard fought battle with Donald Trump.
His election brought with it confirmation that Kamala Harris has become the first ever female Vice President – and the first person of color to serve in said position too.
With the world waiting with bated breath to hear from the President-elect and VP-elect, the potent pair obliged with spirited speeches.
During her address, Harris – who is of Black and Asian decent – spoke about her late mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris:
“When she came here from India, at the age of 19, she maybe didn’t quite imagine this moment. But she believed so deeply in an America where a moment like this is possible.”
Echoing her message of hope, Biden specifically thanked to the Black community for their support and promised to be a President for all.
