This week it was revealed that, after eight seasons on the air, ‘The Real’ has been canceled.
The confirmation of the Fox talk show’s end arrived on the heels of rampant speculation, which saw the news of its axing preempted to the point that some of the cast were forced to address the matter – seemingly before a firm decision had even been made.
With the fate of the series finalized, anchor Loni Love has opened up about the cancelation and shared insights into some of what was transpiring behind the scenes.

Writing on social media, the 50-year-old said:
“In the end, The Real cast and crew did everything we could to scale the show down. We shot 7-8 shows in 3 days, no audience, made a conference room into a studio, but in my opinion, Covid costs killed this show…it’s been a great ride, and thank you to the studio for allowing 8 seasons of a show that was Emmy winning and historic. Most importantly thank you to the viewers for riding with us…this is not goodbye but see you all soon!

Upon its launch in 2013, ‘The Real’ was led by Love, Adrienne Houghton, Jeannie Mai, Tamera Mowry, and Tamar Braxton. Its current line-up sees comic Love host alongside Houghton, Mai, and Garcelle Beauvais.
The end of ‘The Real’ adds to what is unquestionably a huge shake-up of the talk show sphere. For, at the end of the current TV season, ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ ‘The Wendy Williams Show,’ ‘Maury,’ and ‘Nick Cannon’ will all be ending.
While in the Fall, several new titles will be entering the notoriously competitive talk space including ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ on Fox and Sherri Shepherd’s ‘Wendy’ replacement.

The show was bound to fail after they got rid of Tamar. I’m sure the ladies of the Real were feeling themselves when they got the Emmy without Tamar and thought that they were going to become the next View. Unfortunately, nobody I know cared about the show once Tamar left. What is the point of winning over the critics when you lose the key viewers?
If they had kept Tamar, the show would still be on the air, but Loni was always intimidated by Tamar, instead of seeing her as vital to the show, and that’s what killed it. Loni probably thinks she is going to have a successful show by herself, but she really isn’t funny or appealing enough to host a show by herself and make it successful. She hated the fact that Tamar was naturally funnier than her.
Y’all love to say that but Tamar has been gone for yearssss. She has nothing to do with it ending.
Tamar WAS The Real.
Tamar isn’t talk show host material. She’s a caricature that people like to laugh at, not laugh with. Sad part is she’s an amazing singer but her antics have type casted her to loud ghetto girl role.
Yes C**** killed the Show. The show lasted years after ghetto Tamar left. They had a good run but the Show was weak and boring.
