It’s finally showtime for ABC’s ‘American Idol’ revival.

Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Country star Luke Bryan commenced filming for the talent-search in New York City yesterday. And now the first snap of them together has been released. They were joined by returning host Ryan Seacrest.

The trio, whose combined salary is reportedly close to $50 million (half of which is going to Perry alone), were all smiles as work began.

Taping will continue over the next few months and the show will hit screens early 2018.

A lot has been made about the reboot (good and bad), but we’re willing to give it a chance. Are you?

Your thoughts?

In its hey-day, MTV’s daily music video countdown show – ‘TRL’ (Total Request Live) – was unquestionably the place to go to know what’s hot and what’s not in entertainment, namely in the music industry.  In fact, at its height in popularity, the series regularly pulled in 600,000-750,000 viewers a day.  Yet, as technology improved and increased the accessibility of “on-demand” media, the need for shows like ‘TRL’ took the hardest hit – a decline evidenced by its ratings by the time of its 2008 cancellation.

Fast-forward nearly 10 years later, the execs at MTV thought now – a time where on-demand media consumption is at its highest – to be the best time to revamp and reboot the show (click here to see performances and highlights).

If the premiere ratings are anything to judge by, they were wrong:

It looks like Will, Grace, Jack, and Karen are just what the doctors ordered for NBC.

This week brought with it the highly anticipated return of the network’s game-changing comedy, ‘Will & Grace,’ and if ratings are anything to judge by, the four have not missed a step.  Granted, some of those steps landed on the toes of Trump supporters as the reboot’s premiere episode (aired September 28) was unapologetically politically charged, that certainly didn’t stop viewers from staying tuned.

Defeating ratings titan ‘Grey’s Anatomy’s new season kickoff (part of ABC’s #TGIT lineup), in fact, ‘Will’ not only defeated the usual Thursday night champion, but also every other scripted series that aired that night.
