Welcome to another edition of ‘Retro Rewind‘, the TGJ original feature launched to celebrate TV and Film’s glorious past.
Today, our journey takes us to 1997. Our destination? ‘B*A*P*S’, the New Line Cinema movie starring Halle Berry.
The movie tells the tale of two young women who become ‘Black American Princesses’ after auditioning for a music video in Los Angeles to raise money for the hair salon/soul food spot they hope to create.
It isn’t long before their trip to the West Coast sees them thrown into a sinister plot to milk a millionaire’s fortune.
Unfortunately, it failed to recoup its 10 million dollar budget after its release (it picked up $7,338,229) but, as many will agree, worked wonders for Berry’s diverse filmography.
As fans of ABC‘s thriller ‘How To Get Away with Murder’ continue to process the shocks, twists and turns in last night’s episode the show’s producer has stepped forward to spill even more mind blowing details.
The series, in Viola Davis is the leading lady, tells the tale of a successful lawyer who finds herself forced to protect a group of her brightest students when they murder her husband.
However, it isn’t long before they learn that they are pawns in a dangerous game which started long before had heard of Davis’ seemingly thorny character and the heinous crimes that led to their own.
Why things are set to get crazier?

Trey Songz‘ forthcoming LP will see him venture into new musical territory with hopes of reaching his full potential as a commercial and critical act.
How he’s kicking off his new and improved era? By covering the late David Bowie’s ‘Life on Mars?’ for HBO‘s ‘Vinyl.’
He shared:
When I was approached last summer by the producers of ‘Vinyl,’ the first thing I thought was, ‘Damn that’s a David Bowie song. I was honored that the producers thought of such a legend and myself in the same breath. I had to do what I do best, because icons like David paved the way. After learning of his passing I knew that this was a special moment in time and this cover became my personal tribute to David. Experiences like this have helped to shape my future and respect the past of others before me. This has become a very special moment in my career and I am blessed and grateful to be apart!

Though an altogether tamer run, season 8 of the Bravo hit has brought many a memorable moment.
One of the more notable is the rocky friendship between Kandi Burruss and Phaedra Parks.
The one-time bosom buddies have been at relative loggerheads over a variety of issues including an unfinished exercise video produced by Kandi’s hubby Todd Tucker, as well as his friendship with Phaedra’s incarcerated ex Apollo Nida.
In true RHOA form, the topic was addressed during the reunion taping and let’s just say tempers flared.
