The ‘Love & Hip-Hop’ franchise is renown for serving up ratchet reality on weekly rotation. However, in an interesting move, the show used its platform this week to broadcast an engaging debate.
Titled ‘Out In Hip-Hop,’ the spin-off panel discussion honed in on what is still a taboo topic in the hyper-masculine arena of Rap – homosexuality.
Born out of uproar caused by the arrival of gay couple Milan and Miles on the Hollywood branch of the series, the one-off special (hosted by TJ Holmes) featured both gay and straight artists as well as cultural figures waxing honest about their experiences in the industry.
Featured were the likes of Ray J, Lil Fizz, and D.M.C from iconic group Run D.M.C.
Can a gay rapper ever succeed in the mainstream? Are they already doing so now? What really happens “behind the scenes”? These questions and more are addressed with refreshing candidness.

After using breakout hit ‘Empire’ to take Trai Byers (Andre), Jussie Smollett (Jamal), and Bryshere Gray (Hakeem) from virtually unknown to household names, the show’s creator/director Lee Daniels is looking to create his next set of stars.
Via the aptly titled ‘Star,’ Daniels has teamed with FOX to create a new musical drama centered around a three girl-band’s rise to the top (and the drama, heartache, and disappointment encountered along the way). Set to begin shooting in December in Atlanta, the execs at the network are looking to fill the roles fairly quickly and have launched an international digital casting call.

“Are you the only gay men on ‘Love & Hip-Hop?”
Wendy Williams has made a career out of not holding back. So, it’s little surprise that the former shock-jock went “there” when chatting to Milan Christopher and Miles Brock from ‘Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood’ today.
The openly gay rappers, who are also a couple, stopped by to chat to the daytime maven about their decision to walk in their truth.
Naturally, conversation expanded to the broader topic of homosexuality in Hip-Hop – and the articulate pair didn’t shy away from sharing their two-cents.
Beyond re-affirming that there’s a lot folk don’t see behind the scenes in the music business, they interestingly seemed to take a thinly-veiled jab at Frank Ocean for his one-foot in/one-foot out approach to “coming out.”

In life Michael Jackson boasted one of the most captivating success narratives in entertainment history. Hence, it’s little wonder why – six years on from his sudden death – the King of Pop still remains a fascinating figure in the media arena.
It’s clearly a stance Warner Bros co-sign, for the studio is currently working on a unique TV series about MJ’s final days.
