Hollywood’s favorite cool guy Samuel L. Jackson may have recently told Playboy magazine that he’d never kiss a guy on screen, but that may soon change.

The 64-year-old actor is the latest star cast to the film adaptation of Stephen King‘s 2006 best-selling novel ‘Cell’ – an “apocalyptic horror novel about a man, expected to be played by John Cusack, who tries to find his son as a powerful signal broadcast to all cell phones turns the world into bloodthirsty monsters.” (source)

As for Jackson’s role, he’s expected to portray Tom McCourt – a middle-aged gay engineer and former soldier.  At time of reporting it is unknown if the director – ‘Paranormal Activity 2’s Tod Williams – will stick to the book’s portrayal of the character or if adjustments will be made.

36 years after the miniseries broke intense ground on ABC, Alex Haley‘s ‘Roots’ now readies to wow a new generation of TV audiences this year, after its rights were sold to Disney‘s ‘History’ channel.

Now, by way of the power that purchase has afforded them, the channel ready the birth of a newRoots‘ miniseries, drawing from Haley’s original book and series, which boasted a production budget of $6.6 million in the year of its release.

Calling on ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin’ Mark Wolper to executive produce the project, Deadline reports that History are now on the hunt for writers to craft its script, with the channel’s general manager Dirk Hoogstra sharing:

“We would like to revive that cultural icon for a new audience.”

An audience, who will learn the identities of the actors enlisted to portray the release’s characters in the coming months, set to grace their screens over a period of eight episodes, all of which will air as part of the channel’s 2014 programming schedule.

Keep it locked on That Grape Juice as more details emerge on the forthcoming effort.

CNN anchor Don Lemon has landed himself in hot water yet again for his controversial stance on hot topics.  The reporter, who has long garnered criticism from the African American community for upholding views contrary to the community at large, has now added a new number to that growing list – support of New York‘s ‘stop & frisk’ law.

Via HuffPost:

Speaking during his regular slot on the Tom Joyner show, Lemon said that police were not always very respectful of the people they stopped, but that tampering with the “formula that has reduced crime in New York City” could be very dangerous.

“The question is, would you rather be politically correct or safe and alive?” he concluded.

The result was a social media melee.  See some of our favorites below (#donlemonon):

TGJ:  3)  We know you started with 3LW, but what’s your relationship like now with Kiely and Naturi?

Adrienne:  I actually see nature often and we’re totally cool.  But, I actually don’t speak or have any communication with Kiely anymore.

TGJ:  4)  Would you ever be in another group?

Adrienne:  I think being in a group was so much fun. I’ve obviously been in more than one. I had an amazing time and think there’s nothing like being able to share your success with other people.

TGJ:  5)  Any other films we should expect soon?

Adrienne:  Hey you never know! I’m in L.A., taking meetings, reading scripts, and all that. I’d love to do more though.

TGJ:  Thanks for answering those!  Now, we saw that tearful goodbye on ‘The Real’ a few weeks ago.  Is it really the end?

Adrienne:  Don’t believe the rumors of us being cancelled!  It’s not true. We’re waiting to hear word and hopefully we’ll be back in 2014. I’m excited about it, I can’t wait. Same network.

TGJ:  How was your experience overall on the show?

Adrienne:  I had the best time doing ‘The Real’.  I love the perspective of the women I was doing it with. For me, I feel for the longest time I was misunderstood and there were so many misconceptions about who I am.  This allowed me to just be myself and be “real”.

Adrienne (continued):  I think I changed people’s perspective on me.  Working with those women was so much fun. I love all of them [co-stars]. I think I walked into it being nervous, but I left really proud of it.

TGJ:  Well, we look forward to seeing you guys back on the air.  Now, bringing it all home, give us one good reason we should go see ‘I’m In Love With a Church Girl’ on October 18th.

Adrienne:  It’s a feel good movie.  We go and support so many other films with violence and all that, but it’s important to let Hollywood know that people want to see movies with feel good messages and have a message of love, hope, and faith. This movie sends that message.

It’s Game on again for for Brittany Daniel!

The actress is set to reprise her role as Kelly Pitts on season 7 of the BET hit ‘The Game’. Confirmation came courtesy of singer-actress Brandy, who posted a snap of herself (Chardonnay), along with Daniel and on-screen husband Coby Bell (who plays Jason Pitts) on Instagram today.

Many will recall Daniel’s surprise absence from the cast upon the show’s season 5 premiere in 2011. And, despite unconvincing suggestion that she was simply sitting out that particular season of the dramady, fans would go on to scratch their heads as to her whereabouts in subsequent series’.

Nonetheless, she’s back! Are you excited for the return of Kelly Pitts?

Oxygen may have hit a homerun on the commercial front with their new controversial docu-series “Preachers of L.A.”, but critically, the show has viewers very much on the fence.

Based on the lives of six L.A. based megachurch pastors – Bishop Noel Jones, Bishop Clarence McClendon, Pastor Wayne Chaney, Bishop Ron Gibson, Pastor Jay Haizlip and Pastor/Gospel singer Deitrick Haddon – the show raked in a whopping 1.1 million viewers for its October 9th premiere.  The feat did come, however, at the feet of some heavy criticism from industry tastemakers down to everyday viewers aboard social media networks like Twitter and Facebook.

Slamming the extravant pastors for displays of wealth (houses, cars, jewelry, etc.), the latest disapproval comes from fellow megapastor T.D. Jakes who, despite being the “best friend” of Bishop Noel Jones, distanced himself from the show and even labelled it “junk”.

T.D Jakes via Report:

“Now, I know you been watching that junk on TV.  I want to tell you right now, not one dime of what you’re sowing right now will buy my suit. I want you to know my car is paid for. I want you to know I got my house on my own. I want you to know I’m not bling-blinging. I am not shake and bake. I have sold enough books and produced enough movies. I don’t need your offering to pay for this little slimy suit. So I rebuke that spirit in the name of Jesus Christ.”

Bishop Noel Jones admitted that Jakes was not exactly a fan of the show via an interview with our buds over at TheJasmineBrand.  The newest fiery quote came just a week after Jakes’ own television show “T.D. Jakes Presents: Mind, Body & Soul” made its debut aboard BET.
