Lil Nas X made history this week when it was announced his song became the first song in over 20 years to go Diamond while still holding the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 (click here to read more).

Now, as it celebrates its 14th week atop the tally, X is looking to extend that reign even further by lifting a new official remix to the megahit.  While the song’s original mix already featured Country legend Billy Ray Cyrus, its remix calls on help from rapper Young Thug and viral Country sensation Mason Ramsey.

From Nicki Minaj and Cardi B to Megan Thee Stallion, City Girls, Stefflon Don, Lizzo, Iggy Azalea, and more, 2019 has seen no shortage of appearances from femcees on the Billboard Hot 100.  Easily boasting the most simultaneous placements among rapstresses in its history, the year’s carving out proof that the girls are able to not only sell records, but also share space on the chart.

When quizzed on his thoughts on the rise of females in the Rap game, super producer/hitmaker Jermaine Dupri credited a great deal of that progress to his protege Da Brat.  Claiming she ‘broke the mold’ with her Platinum-selling debut album, 1994’s ‘Funkdafied,’ J.D. went on to compare today’s female Hip Hop stars with Brat and – in so many words – said they come up short.

Likening them to ‘strippers rapping,’ Dupri was unable to choose which of today’s femcees was his favorite of the lot making moves on charts.  His quote landed on the desk of Cardi B and – in typical fashion – she had a jaw-dropping response. See it all inside:

‘The Lion King’ is as anticipated for its cinematic brilliance as it is for its musical magnificence. And the latter is proving justified.

Moments ago, Disney released the full soundtrack for the surefire blockbuster, featuring renewed versions of songs from the 1994 classic – as well as three new numbers too.

However, it appears the centrepiece of the project is Beyonce and Donald Glover‘s take on ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?’

The singing sensations play Nala and Simba respectively and their Pharrell produced duet appears at a pivotal part of the film.

Lil Nas X has already galloped into history books multiple times over the last three months thanks to his inaugural megahit, ‘Old Town Road.’

In addition to stomping all over streaming records previously set by the likes of Drake, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and more, the 20-year-old’s seen the tune – currently #1 for its 14th consecutive week – rival the longevity and impact of some of the Billboard Hot 100’s longest running chart-toppers ever.

Now, as the song continues to fend off competition from the tally’s perch, it is being greeted with new reports that it has been certified Diamond by the RIAA for sales equivalence that has exceeded over 10 million units.  The achievement makes him the second artist to ever reach Diamond status while still occupying the Hot 100’s summit.  In fact, the only other artist to do this was Elton John – who laid claim to the first ever Diamond single with 1997’s ‘Candle in the Wind.’

While we extend our congrats to X, look inside to see who joins him in the top 25 on this week’s ‘TGJ Chart Check: Hot 100’ edition:

‘No Time’ rapstress Lil Kim has taken to Instagram to remind the media she has no time for outlets who don’t ‘put some respect on her name.’

The diva, hot on the promo trail in support of new music and the highly anticipated forthcoming VH1 reality show, ‘Girls Cruise’ (as we reported here), is bringing the jaunt to a screeching halt after she received word some of the very networks set to interview her were wielding disparaging remarks about her.

‘The Jump Off’ rapstress may have briefly jumped on the cases of ‘The Today Show’ and ‘Access Hollywood’ (where she says she was due to appear on July 11), but Andy Cohen – host of Bravo’s ‘Watch What Happens Live‘ – got the worst tongue lashing of all.
