Today, we salute two of music’s most memorable legends. This week’s From The Vault pick is ‘If I Told You That’ by the eternally electrifying Whitney Houston and George Michael.

Originally a solo song from Houston’s 98 comeback LP ‘My Love Is Your Love,’ ‘That’ was produced by the legendary Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. For the diva’s 2000 Greatest Hits collection, the track was given a new life when worked into a duet with soul man George Michael. The end result? An all-round vocal masterclass.

[Fun Fact: the jam was originally set to feature fellow music royal… Michael Jackson]

The song was released overseas and was a success for the power pair, peaking at #9 in the U.K – George’s home country.

Kevin Bray was in charge of directing its accompanying video, which saw the two singers living it up in the club before meeting in the middle of the dance-floor for an energized dance-off.

What a beautiful thing it was – and still is – watching two artists at the top of their game sharing the stage in the most complimentary of manners. We wish more “established” acts would follow suit.

It’s still hard to believe that both these musical titans are gone.

And although they have left to the world so many gems and treasures that will stand the test of time, we can’t help but think of all the wonderful music that they could have made in the current musical landscape. Especially with the resurgence of urban music in the mainstream.

Whitney, George, we love you, we miss you and for all time, we thank you.

Fergie is indeed still a firm fixture in The Black Eyed Peas.

These were the words of member Taboo when talking to That Grape Juice at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

Speculation about the singer’s future with the group cranked into overdrive earlier this year when the eclectic ensemble begun performing without her.

Speaking with TGJ’s Megan Thomas, Taboo dispelled the doubt. He explained that – much like the Wu Tang Clan – BEP’s stars will go and do other things but are always still a part of the action.

He went on to tease some of the newness the group have on the way, as well as his solo endeavour with The Magnificent 7. The latter of whom he earned a VMA nod with.

Rita Ora has spent much of this week shining light on worthwhile causes.

As reported, the 26-year-old was snapped helping the relief effort in Houston following Hurricane Harvey. And today she jetted back to home London to perform at the Game For Grenfell football match.

The event was put on in support of those who lost their homes following the raging fire which wreaked havoc on the tower block back in June. Over 80 were confirmed dead in the aftermath of the tragedy – although the final death toll is believed to be much higher.

Together with a host of other British stars, Ora took part to help raise funds for those affected.

Her role saw her perform a stirring rendition of Bill Withers’ ‘Lean On Me’ alongside Emeli Sande and Marcus Mumford.
