Critics are already projecting the sophomore slump on two of TVs favorite newcomers.

Despite their respective season 2s premiering to fantastic numbers, the Terence Howard-led FOX hit ‘Empire’ and ABC’s #TGIT junior ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ (Viola Davis) are seeing ratings get further and further away from their blockbuster openings.

‘Empire,’ which experienced its first ever drop in ratings last week, dropped even further this week as final reports reveal (despite still reigning as Wednesday night TV’s champion).  Elsewhere, ‘Murder’ didn’t exactly make a killing with its ratings either and delivered its lowest numbers to date.

After shaking its title of being home to many a struggling chart hopeful Republic Records continues to sizzle and soar to higher ground on the wings of their leading act The Weeknd.

Now, after ensuring he nabbed two #1 singles from s new LP ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ the label (housed by Universal Music) have seen him team up with Nicki Minaj to release a remix of his smash hit jam ‘The Hills.’

There is no shortage of male titans in Hip-Hop. Historically, despite testosterone dominating the rap landscape, said forces have been able to co-exist alongside one another. Indeed, with the recent release of ‘What A Time To Be Alive,’ Drake and Future proved that there is strength in unity. Though existing on different branches of the genre, they fused their talents together and earned chart-topping results.

But, while the public have no problem accepting a multitude of male Hip-Hop artists, it appears that masses can only affix their focus on one female rap star at time.

As songs of the summer go, ‘Yoga’ and ‘Classic Man’ by Wondaland staples Janelle Monae and Jidenna were two of the season’s most omnipresent offerings.

Not only did the tracks serve as a radio, club, and chart fixtures, they gave way for the launch of the group’s first trek.

Billed as ‘Janelle Monae and Wondaland present The Eephus Tour powered by Toyota,’ the 8-city jaunt saw the eclectic ensemble electrify audiences across the States.
